Registration deadline: May 8 Troop meeting
Troop 613 is planning a camping trip to Raymond "Andy" Guest Shenandoah River State Park near Front Royal, VA. (540) 622-6840 This camping trip will include a canoeing trip on the Shenandoah River. Canoes will be provided by Shenandoah River Trips, a local outfitter. Facilities at the state park are primitive.
BSA "Safety Afloat" requirements for running water canoeing are in effect for this trip. Scouts must be rated as a BSA Swimmer and should have prior experience (summer camp, water craft merit badge)to participate in the canoeing on this trip. A Float Plan per BSA requirements is provided below.
The cost of this weekend trip is $45.00 which includes camping, food, and canoe rentals.

8 Troop meeting so appropriate plans can be made.

I give permission for _________________ to attend the Troop 613 Canoeing Trip May 16 - 18, 2003. I understand that BSA Safety Afloat requirements for flat water canoeing will be in effect for this trip. I authorize adult leaders to authorize emergency medical treatment as necessary in the event that I can not be reached in an expeditious manner. The outfitter requires a hold harmless agreement for each canoer.

Scouts using funds from their scout account must verify that funds in the account are sufficient to do so from Mrs. Trudel. Scouts should maintain a positive balance in their account.

Scouts will be transported five miles to Shenandoah River Trips, a local outfitter in Bentonville, VA. Put in river at Burner's Forge or as designated by outfitter and canoe back to the outfitters base at the Bentonville Low Water Bridge. This is considered a half day trip (3 hours) depending on conditions. |
