Movies Movies and music play a big part in my life. Following are a few lists of my all time favorites, but they are by no means all-encompassing. I find that though I tend towards liking sci-fi type movies, I am most drawn to films with a well-written story. More and more I find action films to be lacking in that they all seem to use the same stunts and formulas. It seems many films are created around the stunts, whereas I believe a stunt or special effect should be used to enhance the story. I tried to list some films here that I thought were remarkable at doing just that. “Sleeper” Picks are obscure things that you may have never thought of checking out but that are great in their own right. I like a Drama to show me a unique view of the world. The film American Beauty taught me more about my life in two hours than I learned in the past 5 years. Pulp Fiction was witty, well written and highly entertaining. When Harry Met Sally had a lot to say about the dynamics of a relationship. In comedy I really like the slapstick stuff, because I am a huge fan of satire in any form. Michael Myers is a master of that and for just all out stupidity you can’t beat Monty Python.

Music is one of the most important facets of my life. I love it in practically all of its forms. Although I tend towards classic rock and the groups I loved while growing up, I really enjoy Progressive, Country, and New Age music as well. |

Wednesday January 31 1:12 PM ET Beatles rank as top pop earners of year 2000 LONDON (Reuters) - Three decades after they broke up, the Beatles were pop music's top earners in the year 2000, according to a survey published on Wednesday. The survey by Heat magazine showed that the Beatles earned 55 million pounds ($80 million) -- ahead of U2, Elton John and the Rolling Stones. The reason for the Fab Four's newfound commercial success was the release of the chart-topping Beatles compilation album ''1,'' a collection of all band's No. 1 hits, which itself proved to be a huge seller worldwide. "2000 was the Beatles' biggest money-making year yet -- which is just incredible 30 years after they split," said Heat editor Mark Frith. ``And really all they did was say 'yes' to the release of a compilation.'' -Reuters/Variety

While a few of my favorites are not “main-stream” and are far from “believable”, I do not feel that the primary requisite for a good tv show is all out believability. What I do look for are “three-dimensional characters” as well as a show that is entertaining and well written.
