"Tooting Our Own Horns!!!"

Because We Know We're The Best...

The Baltimore City College Marching Knights are one of the best bands in the state. Since this is the best band it has the best instrumentalist also. The best of the best are in the trombone section. In the 1997-1998 school year the trombones were section of the year, now in the 1999-2000 school year they've done it again!! Let's get it "one mo' gin"!!! When it comes to the this section school spirt, class spirt, and band spirt go hand in hand. No one gets more "pumpeted" than us. This year(1999) the trombone section was 14 deep.

The Concert Band is another band offered by Baltimore City College. It is for students who want to start with more serious and challenging peices of music. The trombone section is well represented here also by hard working and dedicated students. Practice makes perfect and most of those members who practice diligently go on to be in the Jazz Band and the Wind Ensemble.

Wind ensemble is one of the newest bands at Baltimore City College. They play most types of classical music and demand a higher level of skill in music and theory. Many of our Trombonist have reached this level in the band all ready. This year we performed Vincent Perschetti's Divertimento for Band, and many selections by Percy Graiger, including Country Gardens and The Immovable Do

Baltimore City College also has an exemplery jazz band called The Knights of Jazz. They play big band style like that of Duke Ellington. The trombone is a very important instrument to this kind of music. You have to really good to play with The Knights of Jazz. The trombone section is also well represented in this band. This year we performed many famous jazz standards, receiving a sperior rating and perfect score at The UMES Jazz festival, a superior rating and 2nd place honors at the Feistival competion in Virginia Beach, and much much more.

So anyone who read this page can see the total great acomplishment of the Trombone section. Not to mention that they were Section of the Year in the 2000 band season. To trombones everywhere, from college to beginers nobody does it like us!
