Harry Potter: and The Chamber of Secrets.

Main Report
For my main report I chose to write a letter to the writer of the series, J.K Rowling. I chose to create a webpage because it is what I am good at and enjoy. I think that if I can create good webpages why not do it for this project?

Dear J.K. Rowling,
I have read both of your books so far and I rather enjoyed them. I liked the first book but I liked the second one better than the first. I think it had more context, theme to it, and suspense. I think that Harry and Ginny will end up like Percy and Penelope (boyfriend and girlfriend). In the second I liked your world jumble of Tom Marvolo Riddle=I Am Lord Voldemort. I thought that that was very interesting. Also how Tom's diary wrote back and showed you things that he saw. I have started your third book and am enjoying it. Something I think you should change in the second book is that Ron's pet rat dies and he gets a new pet in Diagon alley in the third book along with Hermione. Some of the characters are a little weird but that is cool because nobody is perfect (even in the magic world).

Harry Potter Reading Log

Entry 1
In chapter one we find Harry back in the hands of the Dursleys (his aunt and uncle). I found this to be very strange in the fact that he hates them. He also hates their son. It is also Harry's birthday in this chapter. As usual he doesn't get anything from his aunt or uncle. The Dursleys hate Harry because of his magical powers.

Entry 2
I thought that this chapter was funny because of the elf Dobby. Whenever Dobby did something wrong he hit his head on the wall and often at that. So throughout the chapter Dobby was thumping his head against the wall when Harry yelled at him. This made the Dursleys mad because of the noise and harry mad too because he didn't want to get in trouble. Anyway Dobby warned Harry that something horrible was going to happen at Hogwarts (the school that Harry goes to).

Entry 3
In this chapter Harry is rescued by Ron and his brother in their dads flying car. Harry was locked up in his room and they came to the window and rescued Harry. Harry went back to Ron's house and met Ron's mom, dad, sister, and brothers. In this chapter, Ron's sister shows signs that she likes Harry. Harry likes Ron's parents and his whole family even Ron's brother the prefect (a prefect is a wizard or witch who exceeds all others in their class at school.

Entry 4
In this chapter we find Harry in Flourish and Blotts, a store on Diagon Alley (a place to buy wizard and witch stuff). Flourish and Blotts is a store for the evil ones. Harry ends up there after using Floo powder. Floo powder transports you to any place in the world. You just have to get off at the right chimney. So in Flourish and Blotts Harry spots Draco Malfoy and his father. As usual they both were up to no good.

Entry 5
In chapter five Harry and Ron flew to Hogwarts in Ron's bewitched car. The car had unlimited trunk space and could fly. Harry and Ron needed to use the car because the wall they had to walk through had turned solid. When they had reached Hogwarts they had crash-landed in a tree, a Whomping Willow tree. Now this is no ordinary Willow tree, this tree hits back! Harry and Ron got in trouble and the car ran away into the Forbidden Forest.

Entry 6
I didn't like this chapter because it was based around a new teacher who has done lots of things around the world. He has defeated monsters and bewitched witch and whatnot. Hermione is in love with this new teacher Gilderoy Lockhart. For Gilderoy's Classes he assigned all of his books that he wrote about his adventures. About ten books for that one class. So on the first day of class Gilderoy lets a bunch of Pixies loose. They were never yet caught.

Entry 7
I thought that Draco Malfoy was gloating because his father bought his Quidditch team the newest broom the Nimbus Two Thousand and One. Also Ron's ratty old wand backfired on him and he was spitting out slugs for hours. Hagrid tried to help Ron but he didn't do much. I thought that that was funny.

Entry 8
I liked this chapter because Harry and Ron were invited to Nearly Headless Nicks Deathday party. I thought that a Deathday party was a little awkward because you celebrate someone's death. At the party there was a lot of ghosts in the dungeon and the food was the worst was because it was all disgusting food loved by most ghosts and ghouls.

Entry 9
In this chapter everything started to get weird. Mrs. Norris (Professor Filch's beloved cat) was petrified in the hall and there was writing in blood on the wall. Nobody knew who committed the crime but there were many suspicions. One that Harry committed the crime. The message read " The chamber of secrets is opened once again." Students started asking all about the Chamber of Secrets. All of the teachers said that it was a myth and the only one who could open it was the heir of Slytherin (one of the first four creators of Hogwarts).

Entry 10
I didn't like this chapter because at the Quidditch game one of the Bludgers (one of the balls used in Quidditch) started to attack Harry intentionally. Harry was hit by the Bludger right before getting the Golden Snitch (the ball that each team tries to get to win it's worth 150 points). Harry's arm was crushed and Professor Lockhart tried to fix it but removed all the bones in his arm. Harry had to stay in the hospital wing for a day and had to drink Skele-Grow.

Entry 11
I rather liked this chapter because it had dueling in it. Professor Lockhart initiated a Dueling Club. Professor Lockhart and Professor Snape dueled and Professor Lockhart was disarmed. Then all the students got to try things and a snake came out of Harry's wand and when it went to attack Justin, Harry yelled in ParselTongue "LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Then the snake slouched and then disappeared. Everyone looked at Harry because he spoke ParselTongue making him a Parselmouth like Slytherin. So everyone thought that Harry might be the heir of Slytherin.

Entry 12
I didn't like this chapter much there wasn't much action. The three of them venture into Moaning Myrtle's bathroom and decide to create a potion to become anyone by placing a piece of them in the potion. The disappointing part was that they couldn't use the potion until it was ready. The potion wouldn't be ready for a month, which wouldn't be until Christmas vacation and everyone would be away for vacation.

Entry 13
In chapter 13 Harry finds a diary that was the name Tom M. Riddle on the front. The mysterious thing was, when you wrote in the diary it wrote back but it responded with answers and questions. So Tom talked to Harry and showed Harry one night when he caught the person who opened the Chamber. That person was Hagrid. Harry saw it with his own eyes yet didn't but had to believe it.

Entry 14
I didn't prefer this chapter to any other chapter because Hagrid was taken to Azkaban the prison for magical wrongdoers. Also Professor Dumbledore was taken away. Then another attack happened this time on Justin and Nearly Headless Nick. They both were petrified like Mrs. Norris. Now people really thought that it indeed was Harry because he had found them lying there petrified.

Entry 15
I liked this chapter. Harry and Ron escaped into the Forbidden Forest to follow the spiders like Hagrid said to do right before he was taken away. They went off trail deeper and deeper and found Ron's father's car looking all roughed up and scratched. They were picked up by giant spiders and taken to a place where a bunch of spiders were and they all called for Aragog the eldest spider. Aragog was Hagrid's pet a while ago and is kind to Hagrid. Harry told Aragog what was happening and Aragog told Harry that it was a creature that even Spiders fear a Basilisk and Harry had no clue what a Basilisk was. Harry returned to find Hermione petrified with another person holding a mirror. In Hermione's hand there was a piece of paper clenched in her hand Harry got it out and read it. The paper was about a Basilisk and all about it. Harry then realized how the Basilisk was getting around the school through the Water pipes.

Entry 16
I liked this chapter because Harry figured out that Moaning Myrtle was killed by The monster in the Chamber and that she didn't know how it got there then Harry looked at the sinks and Myrtle said that the one in the middle never worked. Harry said "OPEN" in ParselTongue and the sink moved and a large tube showed from behind the sink. Harry found the chamber of secrets and finding Ron's sister Ginny.

Entry 17
In this chapter you find out that the heir of Slytherin was and is Tom Marvolo Riddle. Harry has to fight Tom to save Ginny because Tom was feeding off of Ginny's life energy. Harry only had a Phoenix and The Sorting Hat. When the Basilisk bit Harry the Phoenix healed Harry with it's tears. The hat went over Harry's head and there was a sword, which Harry used to kill the snake. Harry used the one of the snake's fang to kill Tom by putting the fang through the diary.

Entry 18
In this chapter a house elf named Dobby was with Lucious Malfoy (Draco father). Harry talked to Dumbledore and Dumbledore told him to look on the sword. Harry look and it said GODRIC GRYFFINDOR. Professor Dumbledore told Harry only a true Gryffindor could have pulled that out of a hat! In the end Harry tossed the diary to Lucious. The book had a sock on it and Lucious threw the sock down and Dobby caught it. This set Dobby free because if one of his masters gives him any article of clothing he is set free forever. Dobby thanked Harry and then the book ended.

Quotation Response
1.(pg.59)"A short irritable-looking man was dancing around taking photographs with a large black camera that emitted puffs of purple smoke with every blinding flash."I picked this because I think that a short irritable man dancing around would look rather funny with a camera that put out purple smoke every time he took a picture.
2.(pg.65)"It was difficult not to feel jealous of Ron when he thought of the Dursleys and the sort of welcome he could expect next time he turned up on Privet Drive."I felt sorry for Harry because the Dursleys treat Harry so horribly at home. Harry is jealous of Ron actually living with his parents.
3.(pg.203)""ATTACK! ATTACK! ANOTHER ATTACK! NO MORTAL OR GHOST IS SAFE! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! ATTAAAACK!""I feel that this is funny coming from a ghost. This ghost is a big trouble maker in the castle. Ironicly Peeves would nearly do anything for a good laugh. So you sort of figure that Peeves is once again playing an evil joke.
4.(pg.203)""Oh, Potter, you rotter, oh, what have you done, You're killing off students, you think it's good fun---""Again another joke coming from Peeves just after "ATTACK......ATTAAAACK". Peeves at his usual self again. I really don't like Peeves now.
5.(pg.264)""If anyone wanted ter find out some STUFF,all they'd have ter do would be ter follow the SPIDERSI liked this part because Hagrid was giving Harry and Ron a clue without being to direct about it to be giving away that Harry and Ron were in the room hiding under an invisibility cloak.
6.(pg.339)""Harry Potter is greater by far than Dobby knew!" he sobbed. "Farewell, Harry Potter!""This part was touching to me because Dobby showed how grateful he was that Harry freed Dobby from his master. I liked this part a lot.
7.(pg.341)""This is called a telephone number," he told Ron, scribbling it twice tearing the parchment in two, and handing it to them."I laughed at this part because Ron doesn't know what a phone is. In book three Ron calls Harry and screams into the phone at Harry's uncle.
