Getting It Right
The rehearsal was going perfectly. Everyone was there on time and things were running smoothly.
Leighanne was Rianna’s matron of honor, Brian was Nick’s best man. Marcy was the first bride’s maid. She was escorted by AJ of course. Kristen was the second bride's maid, escorten by her husband, Kev. Rianna's cousin, Lucia was the third, escorted by Howie (which Howie was extremely thankful for). BJ was paired with Nick’s friend, Damon. Lesley was escorted by Rianna’s cousin, Josh. And despite their pleas, Angel and Aaron were paired together. Jane had to comment on how beautiful the line-up was, and how long.
So far, every person who RSVP’d was there. Everything was set for the wedding. They were to start the ceremony at three the next day, about the same time Nick and Rianna met.
After rehearsal, Nick and Marcy got together in a corner and had a conversation about something. They asked AJ to keep Rianna busy. So far he was doing a good job.
“Think she suspects something?” Nick questioned.
“Nah, of course not. She’s too busy relishing in the fact that her wedding is going to be picture perfect.” Marcy assured him. Nick smiled and kissed her on the cheek.
They continued to discuss their little secret while AJ distracted Rianna.
“So, do you think Marcy and I make a good couple?” He enquired. Rianna looked at AJ sweetly.
“You two have been sleeping together for a month. If she’s not bored with you by now, she must be serious about you. Don’t worry.” Rianna went to get some juice, then sat down next to her mother.
“She told you that?” AJ asked, very interested.
“She might have...” Rianna said, spearing some chicken with a fork from her mother’s plate and eating it.
“And what else might she have told you about me?” He sat down next to her. Marie heard the question and just couldn’t resist.
“Well, I don’t know about Rianna. But she did tell me that you love the oral sex. Both giving and receiving. And I see nothing wrong with that. Just be careful. I don’t want you biting my daughter in places that will hurt for days.” Marie took Rianna’s cup and took a drink. AJ just sat there, his mouth agape. He had to recap whether she had just said what he thought he heard. Rianna laughed until her face turned purple.
“Excuse me.” AJ said in a high whisper before getting up and walking away from the table slowly.
“What? What did I say?” Marie asked, not understanding why he walked away so suddenly. The innocent look on Marie’s face caused Rianna to laugh so hard she could hardly breathe.
“Mamá’s talking about sex again, isn’t she?” Jimmy figured. Rianna nodded, still in a painful laughing fit. Nick returned to the table and kissed her on the cheek.
“We’re all going over to AJ’s for the... you know.” Rianna nodded and kissed him lightly on the forehead.
“Just remember to keep it clean. Aaron is only fifteen.” She reminded him.
“Oh come on, I was about fifteen when I saw my first bush.” He gave her a goofy grin.
“That’s what’s wrong with your ass now!” He blew her a kiss and turned away to go. On his way out he tapped AJ. AJ put his finger up to tell him he’d be out in a few moments.
“You told your mother what we do in bed?” He asked Marcy, face very red. “Come on, Marcy! Your mother!”
“It’s no big deal. She won’t look at you any differently, baby. She would worry more if you weren’t impressing me in bed enough for me to share it.” Marcy remarked to boost his ego.
“So, I impress you? Wait, it’s when I do that thing I did this morning, right?” He hinted. She kissed him on the lips and pushed him out of the door to Nick. Brian pulled AJ’s arm. He blew Marcy a kiss before she was out of his sight.
“Our men are so whipped.” Lee commented. Marcy, Rianna, and Kristen agreed.
Things were going well at Nick’s house. It was inhabited by no one but females. All laughing and telling embarrassing stories about their men. The doorbell rang.
“I think it’s the stripper!” Lesley shouted. She ran to open the door. Jane looked at her, cross. Lesley opened the door and Martín was standing on the other side.
“Martín, what are you doing here?” Rianna questioned, tilting her head slightly. He motioned that he needed to see her privately. She obliged. She stepped outside, closing the door slightly behind herself.
“What’s wrong?” She asked. He hesitated to answer.
“You do realize that this is my bachelorette party, don’t you?” He nodded and said nothing.
“Well, if you’re not going to...”
“Wait! I do have something to say. You’re gonna get married to him tomorrow. And I hate myself for waiting so long to tell you this. But... I... I just couldn’t find the right words.” He put an envelope in her hand and ran off to his car.
Rianna went back into the house, quite baffled. Marcy sensed her sister’s uneasiness and went to her. They went upstairs to Nick’s bedroom where she opened the letter and began to read it aloud.
“Dear Rianna,
I don’t know where to begin. I might as well start from the moment I first laid eyes on you. You were dancing, so full of life. You’ve been the object of my affection ever since. I watched as you brought him to the club. I saw how happy he made you. I stood by and hated myself for not saying anything when you came in wearing his ring. I can’t help but wonder why I never built up the courage to pursue you. Why didn’t I just walk up to you and tell you how I felt? I suppose I should cut to the chase. I know that no matter what I say, you won’t leave him and give me a chance. Just know that he’s not the only person who loves you.
Yours forever,
Martín”
Rianna folded the letter back up and put it into the envelope. Marcy looked at her, stroking her hair for comfort.
“What are you gonna do?” Marcy asked, concerned.
“I’m gonna marry the love of my life tomorrow. No matter what. She gave the letter to Marcy and went to join the others.
