“I really need some new jeans. My butt is getting so fat.” Rianna commented, turning around in the mirror trying to get a good look of her backside.
Nick, still grasping the fact that he was in his own bed, in his own house, did not answer.
“Nick!” She shouted. Nick snapped out of his trance.
“Do you think my butt is getting bigger? Answer me true.” He checked her out and shook his head.
“Well, nevertheless, I need new jeans.” Nick heard ‘new jeans’ and reached into his pocket for his wallet. He set the first credit card he saw on the night stand and turned over to take a nap.
“I’ll be back soon, ok?” She gave him a kiss on the cheek and left the room. Nick listened and she closed the side door behind herself. Then he listened as the car pulled away.
He couldn’t bring himself to sleep, blaming it on jet lag. He rolled over to look at the clock and noticed his credit card still in place on the night stand.
“She must have forgotten it. She’s gonna be pissed when she gets to the register.” He thought.
A few hours later, Rianna returned home with several shopping bags and a trunk full of groceries.
“Papi, can you get that stuff out of the car for me please?” Nick was more than happy to do so. Rianna had gone shopping for herself and managed to refill the refrigerator, all without Nick having to shell out a dime. He wasn’t used to it. He was used to paying for everything. In fact, it had become common for him.
“Manda— what was I thinking? I wasted two years of my life with a gold-digger when there were independent women like Rianna out there.” He thought to himself. Rianna, who loved him more than anything. Rianna, who he now knew overlooked his money.
Nick thought more about it as he helped her put all of the food away. What more could he ask for in a woman? She never asked him for anything accept his time and affection. The one time she borrowed money from him, she paid it back the very next day.
Now he knew that he never had to question her love. He knew that she didn’t care anything about who he was on the outside and what he had. She only cared about who he was on the inside.
