All Bon Secours employees are encouraged to use the library's computers for work-related and educational purposes. Computer users should familiarize themselves with the following rules so that the computer room can remain a pleasant and productive environment for all!
- Since this is a medical library, use of the computers for research on clinical medical issues must be the primary focus. Computer use related to non-medical Bon Secours business is a second important priority. When no one is using the computers to research medical matters or to complete projects related to Bon Secours business, they may be used by employees for other educational purposes (such as school/college papers). However, if you are doing searching of a personal nature, you must immediately relinquish the computers to employees who need them for work-related purposes! Research related to the care of Bon Secours patients is always absolutely the top priority!
- Do not install any programs (including "Instant Messenger" software, games, etc.). If you think that you need to add a specific application to conduct Bon Secours business, please discuss it with the librarian.
- Do not change any of the computer settings (home pages, background colors, fonts, languages, etc).
- If you are using Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, save your work on a floppy disk, not the "C Drive".
- If you absolutely must eat or drink at the computers, please be considerate and careful! Avoid messy, greasy foods and clean up after yourself!
- Common sense and common courtesy should be your general guiding principles !
