"What? You've got to be kidding me!" A voice roared from the studio next to me. "You couldn't possibly expect us to go on tour with them??!! I mean, the other groups are fine, but them?!?"
"Looks like the news didn't hit them as well as Jive had hoped," Jim, the mixer, sighed.
"What are they yelling about?" I asked confused.
"Oh, you'll find out about it a little later. Let's finish this song." We continued working on my debut album, until we were interrupted yet again.
"Okay. 15 minute break everyone."
"Hey Laura," one of the Jive publicists greeted me as three people walked in the door.
"Hello," I said as I greeted the two strangers.
"Hi. I'm Julia McAdams and this is Luci Hague. We work with several other groups, and have come to talk to you about a tour we're pulling together. It's called the Teen Sensations Tour, and we want you as our opening act since you're such a promising young star."
"The other groups will include the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Hanson, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears. Are you interested?" Ms. Hague asked.
As if there was any chance I wasn't! "Sure! It sounds like a great opportunity!"
"Okay. We'll give your manager the full details. The tour will begin in a month, so it gives everyone time to prepare," Julia announced.
"Sounds good! Thank you!" I shook both their hands before they went out the door.
I sat down and started daydreaming....
"Wouldn't it be cool to be famous? To sing in front of hundreds of fans who are there to see you?!?"
"That would be awesome," my best friend, Sidney, sighed. We were relaxing at our neighborhood pool the day after highschool graduation.
"Tamara found an ad in some magazine that said that Jive was looking for a new teen singer...." I murmured.
"Really? You should go try out! I mean, everyone knows you have an awesome voice! You've been the star of every choir and musical production since kindergarten!"
"Yeah, I'm just nervice. I mean, there are probably hundreds of girls more talented than me who are going to try out! I don't stand a chance!"
"Are you going to go freely or are we going to have to get Chris to drag you there?" she joked. Chris was my best friend for as long as I could remember, and everyone always thought we'd end up together.
"Fine! I'll go!"
That was how it all started. As it turned out, Jive liked me and I soon began work on my debut album. I used several of the songs I'd written throughout highschool, and started working on some new songs too. I made sure they knew I would be writing all my own music, because I knew that i'd feel like i'd achieved more if i wrote everything on my own.
"Laura? Ready to get back to work? We need to hurry and finish recording the songs so you can get ready for the tour!" Jim said.
I jumped up and walked into the booth to finish our work.
