. . .Make that Three

Kimberly:

"Umm . . ." the girl sat up and looked around a little confuesedly. "No thank you, I don't mean to be rude, but where am I? And how did I get here, or, do you know?

Jareth:

Jareth studied the girl, puzzled. Out of the ether, he heard the refrain of the words she had spoken before she appeared. 'Goblin King, Goblin King, whisk me away to your Labyrinth that I may face you,and its wonders, to make the choice to stay or return.' A frown creased his regal features.

There was nothing to that rubbish, really. Didn't even rhyme, or start with 'I wish . . .' Either the goblins were going to have to be re-trained - again - on which were the right words, or else this little Miss had a bit of her own magic somewhere inside her.

Either way, it seemed as though the misunderstandings would be a long time in clearing up.

Seraph:

"I don't know exactly, but if you really wish to know, you might better ask Jareth," her tone turned a bit sarcastic," the almighty Goblin King, here sitting next to me, he will probably be able to tell you all you wish to know."

Kimberly:

Kimberly brushed a lock of brown hair out of her hazel eyes. "If you're the Goblin King, then I'm in the book! But that's impossible! Isn't it?" The girl turned to Jareth with her question.

Jareth:

The 'almighty Goblin King' shot a rueful glance at his daughter that told her they would have words later before he turned his attentions to the girl on the ground before them.

"What is your name, child? And what is this book of which you speak? You are in my kingdom, the Labyrinth, and as you can see, it is no mere literary device," he said to her, earnestly, not wishing to scare her any more than she already might be.

There had been many books written about his kingdom, many, many years ago. Most were nonsense, but there were a few magical tomes that, when read by one of an open mind and spirit, could weaken the veil that separated the Aboveground from the Underground. This being so, travelers could inadvertently cross between the worlds. If that was so . . . .

Kimberly:

"My name's Kimberly." She said, standing. "I was reading some sort of a journal that my friend Kat found and I saw a picture and a caption that I thought was pretty cool, I read it aloud, and here I am! Not that I mind much."

Jareth:

Jareth took his chin in hand, pondering this newest revelation. The fact that the book had been in journal form was not particularly helpful; many of the magic tomes had been written in such a style. The bit about the picture, though . . . .

"Kimberly, if I may call you as such, can you describe the picture for me? Even the tiniest detail should not be considered extraneous. Did it appear as though it may have been worked by a luminary?" He realized that the urgency of the situation was causing his to distance himself from the more genteel graces in his nature, making him seem imposing. After all, in the times when Fae-folk and their kin had been revered, the magic tomes had been kept by scholars who knew of their dread potential. If they were now in circulation of the general populous, there could be a serious repercussions, both in the Underground, and the Aboveground.

Still, the girl must have been disoriented and frightened enough without his domineering tendencies getting in the way, so he forced his voice to be more gentle when he said, "Please."

Seraph:

Seraph watched the newcomer and J, carefully reading Jareth's face she noticed his concern, *This can't be good, something is utterly wrong* she thought.

"Ahem, I believe it would be best if I checked Aboveground, something is still wrong, so if ou would please excuse me..."

Kimberly:

It was a picture of you, I think. It was Shimmery and drawn in all black and white. It looked like the man in the drawing was following you with his eyes. I have the book. I hung onto it when I was dropped here.

*Kimberly opened the book to the picture she had just described, and handed it to Jareth.
