A few months had gone by and I sat with Dylan watching some music videos on MTV. I stared blankly at the wall while the commercials rolled.
A movie trailer had caught my attention at the mention of Ben Affleck. Images of planes and explosions flashed by quickly and then an actress with long flowing brown hair and pale skin.
"Dadda!" Dylan pointed towards the television screen.
I followed his pointing and saw Josh in a white tank top with soot and sweat covering his muscular arms. My mouth quickly dropped in amazement and the trailer dispersed. How did Dylan know that was his father? He was only a year and a half old and he'd never seen him once in his entire life. The phone rang jarring me from my thoughts and I quickly answered.
"Hello?" I answered my thoughts still on what just happened.
"Hey Sandra," Jennifer's familiar voice greeted, "You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. I'm just a little weirded out cuz Dylan just said 'Dadda'," I informed.
"Um okay...who'd he call 'Dadda'?" Jennifer was thoroughly confused.
"Well there was a preview for the new Ben Affleck movie--" I started.
"Oh he called Ben Affleck 'Dadda'!" Jennifer interrupted.
"No. Anyway, the movie's called Pearl Harbor and it co-stars my wonderful ex and Dylan's father, Josh," I informed, "And as soon as Josh came on the screen Dylan pointed at him and yelled 'Dadda!'."
"Ooh that's interesting," Jennifer commented.
"Yeah I know," I replied, "He doesn't even know what his dad looks like and I don't know how he knew."
"Yeah, hey listen I'm sorry to cut this short but Nick and Brian are finally back and I'm gonna come home now," Jennifer stated referring to her boyfriend Nick Carter and his bandmate Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys, "I'll see ya in a few and I'll probably have company."
"Okay see ya in a few," I replied and hung up the phone.
I scooped Dylan up off the carpet and grabbed my purse and car keys. I buckeled Dylan into his car seat in the back of the car and headed off towards the grocery store.
