I had everything packed up and ready to go. Josh came with me to the airport to see me off. I checked in and turned to Josh and hugged him.
"I'm gonna miss you."
"I'll miss you too, Sandra."
A lonely tear streamed down my face, Josh wiped it away with the pad of his thumb.
"Don't cry."
"I'm trying not to."
"We'll still see each other, don't worry."
"I know, but this is just kinda hard for me."
"I know, it's hard for me too."
"Flight 110 now boarding," The announcer announced.
"That's me. I gotta get going."
"Okay."
Josh hugged me once more and kissed my cheek.
"Bye Josh."
"Bye Sandra."
Josh kissed the top of Dylan's head and said his good-byes to him.
"I'll call you when I get in, okay?"
"Okay."
I turned away and headed down the terminal. I glanced back and waved to Josh. He returned my wave. I boarded the plane and found my seat. I gazed out of the window, tears streaming down my face. I quickly wiped them away and we were soon up in the air.
"Mama, where Dadda?"
"He's at the airport."
"Why?"
"He had stuff he had to do."
"Oh."
Dylan fidgeted with his shirt then fell asleep.
We soon landed and I walked slowly towards the baggage claim. What was I gonna do by myself? That I did not know.
I grabbed my bags and headed out to where I left my car the previous time. I searched around my purse for the keys, finding them at the bottom. I unlocked the car, tossing all the bags into the trunk. I seat belted Dylan in and climbed in the driver's seat. I started the car and headed towards home.
I pulled into the empty drive and walked into the empty house. I set Dylan on the floor and he ran over to his toys. I went back out and got our entire luggage, setting it anywhere on the floor when I came back in.
I plopped down on the couch and reached for the phone. I dialed the numbers to Brian's cell phone. He answered after a few rings.
"Hello?"
"Hi Brian."
"Sandra! Wow, it's good to hear your voice."
"Thanks. So where you guys at?"
"We're in New York, where are you?"
"At home."
"Why?"
"Josh and I broke up."
"I'm sorry."
"It was for the best though."
"Okay. So are you okay?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"You wanna come out here with us?"
"Yeah, I guess. I miss you."
"Just me?"
"Well, everyone else too."
"Oh. When do you wanna come?"
"Whenever."
"Is today okay?"
"I just got here, but I guess so."
"Okay, I'll book you a flight for later tonight so you can do laundry."
"Thanks Bri, you're such a sweetheart."
"No prob, well I'm gonna make that flight and I'll call back in a few."
"Okay."
I hung up the phone and dragged a bag of dirty clothes over to the washing machine.
******
"Who was that Brian?" Howie questioned.
"Sandra, she's back at home."
"Why?" Jennifer inquired.
"Josh and her broke up."
"Is she okay?" Jennifer asked.
"Yeah, she's fine."
"Good. So she's just gonna stay by herself till we get back?" AJ questioned.
"No, I'm booking her a flight for later tonight."
"Oh okay."
Brian exited the photo shoot and went to find a phone book. He made the flight and called Sandra back to tell her when her flight was.
"Thanks again Bri, you're an angel."
"No prob," I was blushing.
We hung up again and I went back to the shoot.
"Are you blushing?" Nick questioned.
"No."
"You are! Brian's blushing!!!"
"Why is he blushing?" AJ interjected, "What did she say to you?"
"Nothing! Can we just get back to the shoot?"
"Okay."
