She was lying on the couch curled in the fetal position, crying. It seemed as though she had been crying for weeks, but she hadn't. Her tears soaked the cushion fabric. Her heavy sobs dwindled to silent tears. She sat up on the couch and reached for the picture frame on the coffee table in front of her.
"Why?" she asked aloud, caressing his face in the picture with her finger. "Just please tell me why?" A silent lonely tear slid down her cheek and fell onto glass of the frame.
The phone began to ring, but she didn't answer it. She didn't want to talk anyone, not even if it was him calling to say he was sorry.
"Hey. I can't come to phone right now, I'm probably out having a good time without you... haha... Leave a message and I might get back to ya. Later my friend!" answered her cheerful voice on the machine.
'Man, what was I on when I made that message?' she thought to herself, with a tiny smile across her face. But it didn't stay there long.
"Hey sweets, it's Justin. I heard what happened between you and JC. Just give him some time. It'll all work out. If you need someone to talk to, ya know I'm always here. Just lemme know. Later girl."
Her and Justin had been best friends since they were born. Actually before they were born, their mothers had been best friends since high school. When Justin joined the New Mickey Mouse Club, she and JC met.
She would never forget the first day she met JC. She got lost in his eyes. His gorgeous blue eyes. They just made her melt. She wanted so badly to tell him how much she cared for him, but never had the guts too. Then when the show was over, they lost touch.
But when Justin and JC met up again for *N SYNC, she was so happy that she would have the chance to see him again. And JC even asked her out. They've been happily dating ever since. They were so in love with each other.
Until last night when he told her that they should spend some time apart. He needed some space for a little while, he told her. She was completely hurt. And he caused that pain. She never thought he would cause such pain.
She had moved herself from the couch into a corner in her bedroom. She returned to the fetal position again and letting out those heavy sobs.
A couple of days passed. She was still in that same corner, but she wasn't really crying anymore. She had cried herself out and was just lying there. She hadn't eaten anything, she didn't really care anymore. She didn't care much about anything anymore.
Justin had called several times, but she never picked up the phone. She just listened to him on the answering machine. JC never called.
That night she heard someone knock on the door, but she didn't move. She could hear Justin calling for her to come to the door, but she still didn't move. Then she could hear Justin walk into the apartment.
"Amanda, where are you? Amanda?"
He found his way back to the bedroom and saw her in the corner. She looked deathly. She was pale and looked so weak and helpless. He rushed over to her and pulled her into his arms. Her head resting on his chest and he began stroking her hair.
"Amanda, don't worry. He'll come around soon. He'll realize what he's missing," he comforted. She just began sobbing again.
"You can't do this to yourself, Amanda. He'll come back to you soon." What could he do to help her? He wanted so bad to make her her lively, happy self again. There was only one thing he could do. He had to convince JC what he was missing. Why he had fallen so in love with her in the first place.
Justin lifted her into his arms and placed her on the bed, covering her with the blanket.
"I'll make you some soup. You have to eat something." He kissed the top of her head and left the bedroom to go to the kitchen.
He picked up the phone and called JC. He had to tell him what she was going through. How much he hurt her and how much they belonged together.
"JC, she needs you.... I can't believe you're making her suffer like this... She deserves so much better than you, but she doesn't want better. She wants you... She loves YOU, JC.... She's always loved you... You have to come here soon."
He wasn't sure if he said enough to convince JC, but he tried.
Minutes later he heard a knock on the door. He opened it, finding JC.
"Where is she?" JC asked.
"In the bedroom." JC pushed passed him, but Justin grabbed his arm, stopping him. "You better have come here to tell her how much you--"
"Love her." Justin let him go and JC went back to the bedroom to find her in the bed. He saw how pale she was. It broke his heart to see her like this. She needed him and he actually needed her.
"Amanda?"
"Joshy..." she responded with what little strength she had and so softly that he could barely hear her.
"Yeah, it's me baby." He was now kneeling by the bed, stroking her hair. "I love you, baby. I love you so much."
He kissed her on the forehead. It gave her back her life. Her happiness. Her spirit.
She slowly sat up and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I love you too, JC. I love you too."
