Today was the first day of Christmas break. Today would also be the day Justin and Britney would see each other from being apart since August. Although Britney and Justin tell everyone it's only friendship between them, everyone believes that it's love. Both of them aren't willing to admit it to themselves. But one thing is for sure. The passionate and emotional kiss the two shared couldn't deny that they indeed had feelings that were more than friendship. Now with the two of them facing each other since that kiss it's kind of awkward. Both Justin and Britney have forgotten about that kiss. But still, going home for Christmas is more than they had ever imagine it would be.
"Britney. The car is all packed and ready to go." Lynne said to her daughter. Lynne and Britney both agreed that they would fly back to Michigan together to talk about what had been going on since August.
"Okay, I'm just about ready." Britney said.
"I can't believe you aren't going to be here tomorrow." Britney's roommate, Julie mentioned.
"Me either." Britney said.
"But when we get back to school, I'm sure we have lots to tell each other." Julie said.
"You bet." Britney said.
"Britney!" Lynne called after her daughter.
"Okay! I'm coming!" Britney called out.
"I wish I could have my mom pick me up at school. Flights are always so boring. Especially when you don't know anyone on it." Julie said.
"Just try and sleep the way. It goes by much faster!" Britney said.
"But it's still the same amount of distance awake or not." Julie argued.
"Oh! I better go before mom has a heart attack. Have a good flight and say hi to your parents for me!" Britney said.
"I will." Julie said. They had one last big hug and Britney left.
"It took you long enough." Lynne said when Britney made it to the car.
"We were saying goodbye mom. Chill out." Britney said.
"Oh well. I just want to get back to Michigan as quickly as possible." Lynne said.
"Yeah, back to snow everywhere. Why can't we live in California? It's beautiful there everyday." Britney said.
"I thought you loved the snow?" Lynne asked.
"Yeah until after I got tired of it. I don't think I've ever seen our yard." Britney said.
"Don't be belligerent. I know you don't like Michigan because of all the snow, but it's where your father works." Lynne said.
"Why can't daddy work where it's summer all the time. Like Florida?" Britney asked.
"Britney Jean. I do not want you arguing about where your father works. If it wasn't for his job in Michigan you wouldn't be able to go to that fine school that I just picked you up from." Lynne said. Britney knew that her dad's job made very good money and was a great support for the family. But still, Britney hated the snow.
"When's everyone arriving?" Britney asked.
"Your sister is already here. Justin's sister just arrived as I left. Kerri said that Justin was going to arrive the night that you do. You two can catch up on the past year." Lynne said. All of a sudden, the memory of the kiss was flooding Britney's head. 'Why do I feel this way about my best friend'? She asked herself.
"Britney, is there something the matter?" Lynne asked.
"No, mom. I'm fine. I'm just tired from school." Britney lied.
"You can lie down at home in a few hours." Lynne said. Britney knew that she wasn't going to get that memory out of her mind. Even if she tried, Justin would be there to remind her of it every second. But maybe she can keep herself busy with Laura Lynne.
Justin had just put his luggage into the airplane load and was off to Michigan. Justin had not forgotten about that kiss unlike Britney had. Everyday he would sit in class thinking about they way she looked and how she smelled. Nothing could ever replace that day in his mind. The day his life changed.
"Sir. Your ticket." The attendant said asking for Justin's ticket to board the plane.
"Oh, excuse me." Justin said handing her the ticket. Justin couldn't wait to see his mom again. This Christmas was going to be different. Both Justin and Britney's families were going to spend the Christmas break together. Since they were best friend, the families just bonded out of seeing the two kids play together.
"Where are you going?" A fellow passenger asked.
"Michigan." Justin said.
"I bet you have a pretty girl waiting for you." The girl said.
"Yeah, but she's just my best friend." Justin said.
"I take it you want more?" The lady asked obviously prying into Justin's life.
"What's your name?" Justin asked.
"Emily. What's yours?" Emily asked.
"Justin." He said.
"So, Justin. Do you and this girl have feelings for each other?" Emily asked. Obviously Emily wasn't going to give up on finding out who Justin really was.
"I don't know." Justin said.
"How do you not know if you have feelings towards someone?" Emily asked.
"See, she's been my best friend for almost five years. But before we left, something very emotional happened between us and now I have no idea how I feel towards her. I mean I want to rush and call Britney and tell her that I've met this beautiful girl that I'm absolutely taken by and then I turn around and realize it is my best friend. I really want to take our relationship a step further but I don't want to hurt her. I have a problem with keeping a girlfriend. I usually end up loving them too much and they feel trapped because of me." Justin said.
"Seems like you've been wanting to say that for quite some time." Emily said.
"Yeah, I have." Justin said.
"I would like to know more about Britney." Emily said.
"She's wonderful. You would love her. Britney is a girl who loves everyone and everything. Not a moment goes by where she's not flashing that beautiful smile at someone that has done good." Justin said.
"I know how you feel. It was the same way with me and Paul." Emily said. Finally, Justin can relate to someone about his feelings towards Britney.
"What happened with Paul and you?" Justin asked.
"Well Paul and I were the best of friends. Then it eventually grew into love. Everyone was telling us that we were crazy and not to let foolish feelings get in the way of true friendship. But we just ignored everyone and focused on what we had with each other. Eventually they came around." Emily said.
"What happened between you and Paul?" Justin asked.
"Oh, we got married." Emily said. She was rubbing her stomach and Justin realized she was pregnant.
"Congratulations." Justin said.
"On what?" Emily asked.
"On the baby. I know that Paul and you are going to be very happy with a new baby around." Justin smiled.
"Thank you Justin. I know that you and Britney will find peace and happiness wherever you decide to take your friendship. Good luck." Emily said as they boarded off the plane.
