Don't Take The Girl

Johnny's daddy was taking him fishing

When he was eight years old.

A little girl came through the front gate

Holding a fishing pole.

His dad looked down and smiled,

Said, "We can't leave her behind.

Son, I know you don't want her to go

But someday you'll change your mind.

Justin and his dad, Randall, walked out the door. Randall was taking Justin fishing for he first time and Justin was so excited. That is until he saw what was outside. There stood his neighbor, Marjorie, fishing pole in hand and a smile on her face.

"We can't leave her here," Randall said.

"But dad, I don't want her to go! Fishing is for boys not girls!" Justin argued and stuck his tongue out a Marjorie. Her smile immediatly turned into a frown and her head dropped.

"Marjorie, hunny, you can come with us," Randall said. The little girl's face lite up with excitement.

"Can't we take Trace or Mike or even Greg?" Justin asked in a desperate attempt to get Marjorie away.

And Johnny said,

"Take Jimmy Johnson.

Take Tommy Thompson.

Take my best friend Bo.

Take anybody that you want, as

Long as she don't go.

Take any boy in the world.

Daddy please- don't take the girl."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Justin was now 18 as was Marjorie. He held onto her hand tighly andpulled her close. Justin pressed his lips to her's and they met in a passionate kiss. After a few years of quarrling over the little things they realized how much they loved each other. Their lips parted and they smiled at each other. A dark figure came and grabbed Marjorie by the arm. He pulled out a gun and held it against the side of head.
"Do what I say and I won't shoot her!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Same old boy,

Same sweet girl,

Ten years down the road.

He held her tight and kissed her lips

In front of the picture show.

Stranger came and pulled a gun,

Grabbed her by the arm,

Said, "If you do what I tell you to do

There won't be any harm."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Look, man, take my money and Rolex. Here take my damn wallet and my car keys but please don't take the girl," Justin begged. The man snatched Justin's offerings and ran, letting go of Marjorie. She fell to her knees. Justin was quick to her side and wrapped his arms around her. She buried her face into his chest and cried. He held her tight and rocked her back and forth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And Johnny said,

"Take my money.

Take my wallet.

Take my credit cards.

Here's the watch that my grandpa gave me.

Here's the keys to my car,

Mister give it a whirl,

But please-don't take the girl."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five years later, Marjorie says it's time to go.
"The baby is coming," she says. Justin ran to her side and helped her out the door and into the car. He arrived at the hospital and Marjorie was whisked away to the Delivery Room. Justin waited for hours until the doctor came out. His face was sad.
"Sir, I congradulate you on your beautiful baby, but your wife isn't going to make it." Justin fell down to his knees as tears flooded his eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Same old boy,

Same sweet girl,

Five years down the road.

There's gonna be a little one

And she says it's time to go.

Doctor says, "The baby's fine,

But, you'll have to leave

˜Cause his momma's fading fast."

And Johnny hit his knees

And there he prayed

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"God, please, don't take Marjorie. Take me instead. Let her care for this child. Let her live on and take my life instead, but Lord please don't take the girl," he prayed. The tears streamed down his face as he looked up. He hoped the Lord would answer his prayer for Marjorie deserved to live. She was such a sweet person.
"Please God, spare her. Let her live," Justin cried. Everyone around him stared, sympathy filled their eyes for the young man praying for his wife.
"Take me! Please Lord take me in her place!" .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Take the very breath you gave me.

Take the heart from my chest.

I'll gladly take her place

If you'll let me

Make this my last request.

Take me out of this world,

God please-don't take the girl."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The doctor kneeled down in front of Justin and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, but we lost her," he said quietly.
"No," Justin whispered," NO! Marjorie, honey, come back!"
