Daddy's Girl

Megan sat down at the piano. She placed her hands on the keys and looked at the music written on the sheets in front of her. Her fingers pressed down on the keys and the soft melody made by the piano filled the theatre.

I'm sittin here

At the piano

Are you watching me me?

I'm doing this for you

I'm playing this song

Daddy are you proud?

Megan waited anxiously backstage. She had scored a record deal was now on the biggest tour of the summer. The stage hands told her to go onstage. She ran out there and performed the ever so familiar routine that she had been practicing non-stop. She smiled as she saw her father smiling at her backstage.

Look at me

Look where I am

Daddy do you see?

I'm singing for you

I'm performing for you

Daddy are you happy for me?

Megan entered the room. Her father lay in the bed in the center of theroom. His tired eyes opened when he heard the door open.

"Megan, honey, come closer," he said.

"Daddy," she whispered as she neared the bed.

"Megan, I love you and now my time here is through. I wanted you to know that I'm proud of you. So very proud."

"Oh, daddy," Megan gasped and hugged him. He kissed her cheeck softly. Drawing in his last breath he whispered, "Good-bye Megan, I love you baby."

"Good-bye," Megan mumbled as the tears flowed freely from her eyes.

You're gone now

You've joined the angels

Can you still hear me?

I'll talk to you still

I'll still sing for you

Daddy will you listen?

Megan walked into the cemetary. She walked to her father's tombstone and knealt down before it.
