MR. BELLO, the star of the show, rode motorcycles up cables, rode elephants, climbed thin pcv pipe lamp posts. More guts then any lion tamer.
THE SIDESHOW before the show. Clowns yakking it up..and this elephant painting a portrait.
"WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS!" proclaimed the new ringmaster. And what a show it was. Glamor....excitement...pizzazz. Everything was great.
AND SPEAKING OF riding elephants, here Bello rode Dumbo onto this little barrel and both blanced on top of it. Whew!
THE EVERPRESENT clowns kept the action going during all the transition phases from act to act.
THE TIGER TRAINER had his hands full with these big cats. He even took a ride with one on a swing 30 feet off the deck!
ON A THE BALANCE BEAM, these acrobats performed flips, revolutions and other amazing feats. The handlers would jettison the performers into the air, then try to place the beam where they approximated where each would land. It worked.
HERE'S BELLO on top of the 100 foot PVC pipe lamp post. AFTER CAUSING THE POLE to sway back and forth and without safety restraints, he performed a headstand, then shimmied upside down the entire length of the pole back to the ground using only his feet.
UPON THE completion of the show, we headed to Capitol Hill where we had lunch at "Bull Feathers" and saw Senate Majority Leader, Tom Daschle, seated next to us; explored the neighborhood where I grew up; then took the Metro home. This is St. Peter's Church where I was an alter boy.
