Mission

Why the name Thought Crimes?

The name Thought Crime comes from George Orwell's book 1984. He used the term to describe the action of simply thinking about doing something that was against the will of Big Brother. While it is true that our Govt. today is not nearly as oppressive as the one Orwell describes, it would be a lie for me to tell you that that such oppression does not exist in our own time, and even in our own country. Since thinking always precedes action, we felt that Thought Crimes was symbolic of the first step towards a more free and just society.

What is the purpose of Thought Crimes ?

The main purpose behind the Thought Crimes page is to give revolutionary thinking a voice that will reach as many people as possible. Chief among these revolutionary ideas are those of anarchism and pacifism. However, being open minded, any form of social change, so long as it promotes unity and not hate, peace and not violence, freedom and not forced labor/slavery, will also be welcome here.

What does Thought Crimes stand for/against ?

What does Thought Crimes stand against ? Hmmm...the list is very long there. We here at Thought Crimes are against many things...war, violence, hate, racism, sexism, ethnicism, and hierarchy.( for more detail see anarchism or email us with specific questions)

So what are we in favor of? Again, many things. We feel that any step towards a more free, more just world is positive. Becuse of this we are in favor of almost all NON-VIOLENT forms of change. Such activities can range from simply attempting to spread our/your ideas by simply trying to educate others, to more involved activities such as 'zines, letter writing campaigns, charity/benifit work, and any other D.I.Y. projects that ork to make the world a better place to live.
