The Road to Destiny: Chapter 30
"Nice to see you again Sir." Sean said carefully as he took Jax's coat.
"Dinner will be served as soon as you are seated."
Jax thanked Sean, strolling confidently into the dining room. "Jax!"
Jane smiled happily as she stood, going over to her youngest son and
hugging him tightly. "You came back..."
"As I knew he would." John grinned. "Welcome home....Jerry?" John
looked over at Jerry as he stared at Jax.
Jerry shrugged, drinking his wine.
"I'm not back..." Jax stated what Jerry was thinking. "I probably
shouldn't even bother sitting down." he reached into his pocket, picking
up his ringing cellular and turning it off without answering.
"Hello?"
"Hi Keesha...is Mr. Jacks there?"
"No...he's still at the office."
"No, he isn't...."
Jax wasn't at work?
"...And I've tried his cellular and he's not there either...and we're
having a major emergancy. The president needs him down in San Francisco
right away."
"Right away? What for?"
"He needs him there for a meeting, so they can sign something...I don't
know all the details...wait...can you sign for him?"
"What?"
"Didn't Mr. Jacks give you the authorization of signing for
him...yes...I'm looking at the contract right now. You need to get to the
airport."
Keesha looked around. "But...I need to wait for Jax..."
"Keesha, there isn't any time. I have president on the phone as we speak.
You know how he gets..."
"Right. Okay...Give me the information..."
"What's this about?" John sat again as Jane remained next to Jax, her
hand resting on his back in silent support.
"My shares in J&J Enterprises. I think we can probably come up with some
sort of a deal."
John groaned. "I don't want to come up with a *deal*. I want you to come
to your senses."
Jax continued staring at his father. "I could very well say the same
thing about you...but I realize that is a moot point falling upon your
ears."
"Oh...so is this the next step. Are you pretending not to care anymore?"
"What are you talking about."
"Your...lady friend was here a week or so ago...basically trying to bully
me into calling you..."
Jax shrugged. "Lot of good it did her I see. I'll have to talk to her
about wasting her valuable time." he stated simply. And going up against
his father. No one should ever go up against his father. "Moving on...I
am not selling, you cannot force me out, and I don't think any of us want
to take this to court. So...I am willing to come up with a contract we
can all agree on...sort of dividing the company, into my section and
yours...and with the clients we still share, coming up with a percentage
for us to receive."
Jerry glanced over at his father.
"Why didn't you just tell your brother this?"
"Because unlike you I don't feel it's right to use him as some sort of
middle person. And I prefer to make my business deals in person. You
taught me that."
"Good to know you paid attention to something I've taught you."
"You also taught me when to leave a meeting. I beleive this meeting is
over..." Jax smirked. "By Mum..." he whispered before nodding goodbye to
Jerry.
"Jax...at least have dinner." Jane took his hand before he could leave.
"We already have a place here for you." she looked back at John.
"Yeah Dad. Let the boy stay." Jerry finally spoke.
"Goodbye Jasper." John stated simply. He watched s Jax left.
Jax got into his car, taking a deep breath. That was harder than he
thought it would be, but it had to be done. His father had to be
absolutely clear that Jax had made his decision and that was final. But
Keesha...he couldn't beleive Keesha went to see his father...and knowing
Keesha, she probably held her own against him. No one had ever stood up
to his father for him before. Not his mother, not Jerry...only Keesha.
And as he realized that, he decided what just happened was a lot easier
than it could have been, because he really did have all the support he
needed...Jax rolled down the window.
"Happy Birthday Jax."
Jax blinked. Today *was* his birthday...and he had completely forgot.
"Ironic." he said, thanking Jerry for the gift. "I guess I'll see you
around."
"Yeah...bye." Jerry stepped away from the car, backing up and watching
his brother pull out of the driveway.
"Keesha?" Jax called as he walked into the apartment. "You will never
guess...." he looked around, noticing the silence. It was only 9:00. She
should be up. "Keesha?" Jax walked down the hallway, opening the door to
the bedroom. Empty. Jax sighed, sitting on the bed. Of course, how
would she know. He never told her. There were a lot of things he didn't
tell her.
Jax smiled as his eyes focused. Of course, how could she not know. He
stood walking over to the dresser.
*My Dearest Jax,
I really wish I was there, but there was an emergancy at work, and I had
to go out of town unexpectedly. Keep your weekend free and I promise you,
I will give you a proper birthday celebration. I love you...more than
words can say.
Keesha*
Jax placed the small note down, opening the card leaning against the vase
of roses on the dresser and reading the handwritten note inside
Happy Birthday Angel~Happy Birthday to My Everything
Jax,
You are so much more than the man I love. You are my best friend. And
you are so much more than that. You, Jax, are my living
dream, my ray of sunshine...when I am lost
and things are dark as night, you are my moonlight, you
are my twinkling star, you are my path back...you are my destination,
because with you there is life. There is love. Because
where there is love, for me, there will always be you.
Happy Birthday...I will love you always.
Keesha
Jax read her words over again, tracing his fingers across her name. He
cleared his throat, reaching up and taking his gift.
"She bought you a *star*?"
"I found this rolled up peice of paper, and it was a map of the stars that
could be seen from where we live...and...she actually went down to the
observatory, and had a star named after me...it's shown right here on the
map..." Jax took the phone and went over to the patio..."Oh My..."
"What?"
"There's a telescope here."
"What?" Mrs. Sellers sat up on the couch. "She bought you a telescope
too...how did she..."
"I have no idea how she afforded all of this...I'm going to kill her when
she gets home...can I call you later..." Jax had to stop his voice from
breaking as his heart continued to fill with even more love for Keesha.
"Sure thing. And don't forget your cake. She left it in the
refigerator." Mrs. Sellers laughed hanging up before Jax could speak
again.
Jax went outside, bending down and looking into the telescope. "Keesha?"
he answered the phone, pulling back.
"No...this is Andre Sir."
"Uh huh...yes....San Francisco?...no, that's fine. The meeting was
supposed to be tomorrow....alright...do you know what flight she's coming
in on...tomorrow afternoon?...Thank you." Jax hung up, looking out at the
night sky.
"We needed someone in person to do this." The president walked Keesha to
her hotel room. "And we needed both signatures..."
"That's fine...I just wish I could go home tonight instead of tomorrow.
Bye." she waved watching him go down the hall. She opened the door.
"It's such a pleasure doing business with you."
"Cameron? How did you get in here."
"I'm a major shareholder of Sundance Incorporated, which Anders
Enterprises just bought a significant amount of stock in, thanks to you."
"This was *your* company. You weren't at the meeting, and your name was
never mentioned...."
"Silent partner. Guess I'm not so silent anymore."
"Whatever. Get out." Keesha stood in the doorway. Cameron stood from the
couch, walking over to the door.
"And what if I don't?" he asked deeply, yanking Keesha into the room and
closing the door.
Locking her in with him.
