The Road to Destiny: Chapter 10
Keesha tore away from Jax with a gasp as he dragged his hands roughly up
the smooth skin of her back. He trapped his fingers underneath the clasp
of her bra, unhooking it as his mouth tasted her neck hungrily. She
reached down, leading his face back to hers and kissed him passionately.
Her hands left his face, trailing downwards and pulling his shirt from his
pants. As she kissed him she pushed herself up slightly, finding his belt
and fumbling with the buckle, unhooking it. Jax groaned as she laid back
down on him fully once more, gliding her body up over his.
"...Please call us immediately in regards to your mother..."
Keesha shot up, hearing the answering machine for the first time.
"What..."
"Hello?!" Keesha picked up the phone and the machine clicked off. "...uh
huh....uh huh..."
Jax took deep breaths, looking as Keesha climbed off him, walking away.
"...when did this happen...I'm on my way." She hung up.
"What's wrong?"
Keesha glanced back at Jax. "Nothing." She finished walking quickly back
into her bedroom.
Jax stood from the sofa. "Keesha..." he called.
Keesha came out, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. 'I'll see you
tormorrow..." She picked up the phone, dialing. "...yes, I need a cab
to..."
Jax disconnected the call. "Let's go."
"Go where?"
"Wherever you need to go. Obviously it's an emergancy and my car is
already here."
Jax waited for her to protest, but instead she went to the door, running
out. Jax bolted out after her.
"Thanks for the ride, but go home."
"I'm not leaving you here...obviously you're upset..."
"Jax, please...go home. I really really want you to go home. Please."
Jax sighed deeply. "Okay....you know how to reach me if you need
anything?"
"Yes." Keesha opened the car door.
"Take all the time you need..."
"I'll be there tomorrow. Thanks. Bye..." She ran out of the car, going
into the nursing home. Jax waited for a moment and then drove off.
"Jacks." Jerry sat up in bed answering the phone.
"You said you needed this information in a hurry, so I gathered that meant
as soon as possible."
"Right. What did you find out."
"Not much, Keesha Ward graduated from the state university and after
graduation started at full time Anders Enterprises. She started there
under an intership program her junior year. No prior marriages, a few
significant others...one in high school and a couple in college. Then of
course Cameron Anders...she had been with him for a year almost. They
recently ended their affair. Seems it wasn't hidden, the office knew
about it."
"No priors?"
"No arrests, no investigations, no police files..."
"What about her family...hold on....yes!"
Jax opened Jerry's bedroom door. "Who are you talking to?"
"Business. What are you doing here?"
"Closer than my place. I need to talk to you."
"Give me a few minutes, and I'll meet you in the den."
Jax nodded, leaving and closing the door behind him.
"...go on."
"Her family is another story..."
"I wish you'd let me take you out of here Momma."
"No...is Cameron here?"
Keesha sighed. "No. I told you, I'm not seeing Cameron anymore."
"Why?"
"I told you that, too...look, the nurse said you really hurt yourself. You
need to be checked by a real doctor."
"I like Cameron's doctor."
"We can't use Cameron's doctor."
"Keesha...sweetheart...he made a mistake, people make mistakes...why don't
you give him a chance...think of all the things he can give you."
"I don't want anything from him."
"I want your word on something Jerry."
"What?" Jerry sat down across from Jax.
"I need for you to not intefere with Keesha and myself."
"So there is something."
"Yes....it looks that way."
"Well end it. Your taste is just as bad as ever."
"Meaning?"
"Keesha..."
"What Momma." Keesha sat back rolling her eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes at me. Do you want to spend the rest of your life
struggling?"
"I'm not struggling. I take care of myself just fine..."
"Don't you think you deserve more than fine? I don't want you to wind
up like I was, I want you to be able to go places and buy nice things, and
be able to give any child you have whatever their heart desires. The way
I lived before...before what happened."
"Translation, you want me to disregard the fact that Cameron hit me
because he has money."
"People make mistakes Keesha," her mother stated defiantly.
"...so?" Jax asked defiantly.
"So? Have you ever heard the addage like mother, like daughter?
Keesha's father died, and three weeks later her mother is married to the
president of a multi-million dollar company. She did nothing but spend
his money, and then he divorced her but not before he gave her half a
million dollars which she blew in just a few months, not years Jax,
months. And then she spent the rest of Keesha's scholarship money...Keesha
had to take another job to finish college. Her mother lived for
money...the only reason she's not out looking for more now is because of
the accident."
"What accident?"
"She fell off a horse, damaged part of her spine, and has problems getting
around...that's not important."
"Poor Keesha..." Jax whispered.
"Poor Keesha?" Jerry mumbled. "Are you listening to me? How's
this...when her mother got hurt, that's when Keesha started dating
Cameron, coincidence?"
Jax looked at Jerry.
"Cameron paid for her mother's surgery. Coincidence? Cameron just made
Keesha his assistant before we got rid of him, giving Keesha a
considerable amount more than she used to make. Coincidence? Then all of
a sudden, she takes an interest in you...how much money are you worth now?"
Jax didn't answer.
"You stay away from her, understand? Remember what I've taught you,
remember what happened last time you ignored my warning. Stay away from
Keesha Ward."
