The Road to Destiny: Chapters 1 & 2
(A non GH related Jax and Keesha story)...
Jasper "Jax" Jacks stormed out of his house, his brother Jerry chasing
after him. "Where are you going?!"
"None of your damn business!" He hopped on his motorcycle, starting it up.
"Come back inside." Jerry stood defiantly. "Don't be such a brat."
A flash of darkness went through Jax's clear blue eyes. "Go to hell."
"We were just looking out for you..."
"Who asked you to look out for me!"
"So what where we supposed to do, just let you marry that conniving
gold-digging bimbo?...JAX!!!" Jerry yelled after his brother, watching as
he sped away on his bike.
John Jacks, the patriarch of the family, stood behind his eldest son. "He
just needs some time away." he placed his hand on Jerry's shoulder. "What
happened with Bridget was 6 months ago, he's already over her and he'll
get over this, and he'll see that we were right..."
"He already knows that we were right. That's why he's so upset," Jerry
mumbled, moving past his father and walking back into the house.
Keesha and Cameron continued yelling at each other as he drove down the
road. "SHUT UP!" he yelled as he screeched the car to a stop. She gasped
as he reached over, grabbing her hair and pulling her toward him. She
took hold of his wrist, digging her nails into them, drawing blood. He
called out, letting go.
"Have you lost your mind?!" she screamed, opening the car door and getting
out. She paused, a dizzy spell hitting her, but soon she continued on.
Cameron rolled down the window, yelling as she started down the road.
"Get back in here!"
"Go to hell." She took a deep breath. Never, ever had a man laid his
hands on her. And it wasn't going to start now. "We're through."
"I'm sorry...okay...now get back into the car."
"Go to..." Keesha stopped as Cameron swerved in front of her.
"In..." he ordered, his dark eyes flashing with anger.
Keesha blinked as Cameron came towards her knocking her to the ground...
She winced as her ankle twisted and looked up at him once more. Cameron
stopped. "I'm sorry..." his eyes started to tear and Keesha just stared
at him silently.
He had sworn that he would never do that to her, he wasn't going to be
like his father. He looked at her and then without another word, left her
there, getting back into his car and speeding away.
Keesha watched the car disappear before trying to stand once more.
"Damn!" she fell, scraping her hands against the road. She looked around.
No cars, middle of the night...freezing.
And completely alone...and dizzy...
No...she couldn't pass out here...
How could she...
Jax acclerated, speeding down the winding empty road.
How could she just take that check and run.
How could he be so damn stupid...
Jerry told him a long time ago, the chances of either of them finding a
woman who could actually love them for them...and not for all the money
and power that came attached to the Jacks name...
Was nil.
How could he actually think that things would be different...they were
never ever different.
You'd think he would have learned by now...
Jax's eyes grew big and he hit the brakes, skidding to a stop just moments
before hitting the woman laying wet and still on the ground.
Jax hopped off his bike, bending over her as he took off his helmet. "Can
you hear me?!" he called to her over the rain. He felt for a pulse,
sighing in relief as he found it.
In one swift movement Jax picked Keesha up off the ground, walking her off
the road and laying her gently down. He ran over to his bike, pulling his
cellular from the backpack attached to the seat.
Out of area.
He groaned, looking over at her. He had to get her out of the rain to
somewhere warm...his eyes fixated on a small house way down the field.
If he drove there he could be back in no time.
He looked back over at her.
But he sure as hell couldn't leave her here alone; he just couldn't.
Decision made, he pushed his bike over to the side, leaving it behind a
bush. He darted across the street and bent down over her once more taking
off his jacket and securing it over her.
Jax carried Keesha up the stairs of the porch, stopping in front of the
door and kicking it. "HELLO! I NEED HELP HERE!" Jax looked down at
Keesha. "We're almost there..." he whispered to her quietly.
The door opened and he looked up. "Please...she needs help..."
The elderly woman moved out of the way and Jax carried Keesha inside.
"You can lay her there..."
Jax nodded, walking over to the sofa and resting Keesha gingerly down.
"What happened?"
"I don't know. I found her on the street, unconcious. Her vital signs
were good..." Jax mumbled as he checked her pulse again.
"You carried her from the road?" The woman stared in awe as she draped a
cover over Jax's shoulder.
Jax blinked in shock, taking the cover and placing it over Keesha. "I
couldn't just leave her there."
"She's rather lovely...poor thing..."
"Can you call the doctor?"
"The line is dead."
Jax looked over at her. "Do you have a car?"
"No. I get everything delivered. There will be someone here first thing
tomorrow..."
Jax stood. "No...I'll go get help."
"Young man, you're soaked to the bone...I'm not going to allow you to go
back out there..."
"But she..."
They both looked over as Keesha groaned, her eyes opening.
"Sweetheart?" the woman came closer. "How are you doing?"
"Where..." Keesha tried to sit up, placing her hand over head as she was
dizzy once more.
Jax furrowed his brow. "Hey..." He knelt in front of her. "What do you
need?"
Keesha stared into his eyes. "Food." she managed to whisper.
Never before had she seen anything as clear and beautiful as this man's
eyes...
"Coming right up." The woman left them alone.
Keesha stopped looking at Jax. "How..."
"The name is Jax."
"Mr. Jacks..." she breathed, glancing around. "This is your house?"
Jax laughed. "No. First, there's no Mr. My first name is Jax. Second,
I just brought you here...I found you on the road...Do you remember
anything?"
"You're soaked..." Keesha whispered.
Jax looked down, running his fingers through his wet hair. "I've been
told. But I'm fine...and besides, you're rather drenched yourself."
Jax held on to Keesha's hand as she sat up on the couch. She looked down,
using her free hand to remove his jacket from her body. "I should have
eaten." she mumbled.
"When did you last eat?"
"Yesterday morning." She looked over at Jax. "Kind of stupid..." she
smiled softly. "I know better. Thank you so much."
"You're so welcome." Jax smiled at Keesha.
"Um..."
"Sorry..." He noticed he still held hold of her hand and let go.
"Here...something for you...and something for your friend here..."
"I really should be going..." Jax stood once more.
"Why, is someone waiting for you at home?"
"No...I just think...that she should go to the doctor..."
"But she's awake now, and it's still storming outside...and you're still
soaked."
"I told him that." Keesha smiled as she took a bite of her food. "Thank
you...Mrs..."
"Sellers."
"Sellers." Keesha nodded.
"By the way, you should talk, you're rather wet yourself."
Jax laughed. "I told her that."
"Why don't you go and shower, and I'll take care of your clothes...you can
wear my husband's robe while you wait."
"Where is he?" Jax asked.
"He passed," Mrs. Sellers answered, going back into the kitchen. Jax
watched her leave. "I'll leave it outside the door! Third door on the
right!" she called.
Keesha looked over at Jax, not saying a word as he headed down the hall.
Keesha sighed, opening the door to the bathroom. She was warmer now, the
flannel night shirt wrapped around her body. "Sorry I took so long..."
she stated as she hopped back over to the couch.
"How did you hurt yourself?"
"I fell," she answered Mrs. Sellers.
"In the road out in the middle of nowhere?"
"I had a fight with my ride...it's a long story. It's stopped raining."
she noted, changing the subject.
"Yes...your friend is changing into his clothes now."
"Actually he's done..." Jax came downstairs from a bedroom. "Thank you
very much." he smiled for Mrs. Sellers. "I'll send someone back here..."
"She doesn't need a doctor right now..." Mrs. Sellers stood, hoping to
keep her guests a little while longer. Her house seemed so empty with no
one around. "Do you?"
"No...I'm fine."
"Your ankle is sprained." Jax stated.
"It will be sprained tomorrow."
"You can go home if you like...but if you're leaving merely to get
Keesha..."
"Keesha?" Jax looked over at her.
"Oh...sorry, hi, I'm Keesha. Nice to meet you," she teased Jax, holding
her hand out.
Jax shook it and her smile faded as their eyes locked. Finally he let her
hand go and looked over at Mrs. Sellers.
"...get her to the hospital, then I insist that you stay and do it
tomorrow, when you've rested. You've had quite an evening, both of you.
There are two bedrooms upstairs..."
"No..." they both insisted.
"There is no no. You two barely know each other, I doubt you want to
use the same couch."
Keesha bent her head, slightly embarassed.
"I really should go..." Jax insisted.
"Then I can use the couch."
"No you can't use the couch...you need to be able to strecth your leg
fully out...you can use the bed."
Keesha looked up at the staircase, trying to figure out just how long it
would take to get...
Jax lifted Keesha off the couch.
"Hey!"
"First door on the right. Good night Keesha...Jax..." Mrs. Sellers
smiled as she headed down the hall to her own bedroom downstairs.
"Aren't you tired of carrying me around?"
"It's no problem." Jax settled Keesha on the bed. She watched as he
gathered a couple extra pillows, sitting down at the foot. "Lift."
Keesha lifted her foot and Jax placed the pillows down. She rested her
ankle on them. "I'll be right back."
Before she could answer she could hear him bounding down the stairs.
"Do you have everything?" Mrs. Sellers asked as she leaned against the
bathroom door.
"Oh...I'm sorry, I just think we need to wrap the ankle before..."
"Go on...do what you're doing. You seem to have a knack of the rescue
business."
Jax laughed. "Maybe. Thank you for letting her stay here."
"My offer to you still stands...but you have to go..."
"Right." Jax nodded, walking past her. He stopped, bending and kissing
her on the cheek.
Keesha watched silently as Jax continued wrapping her ankle. His head was
bent as he worked, and she looked at his hair, wondering if it could be
even half as soft as it looked. Her gaze travelled downward, focusing on
his profile, and then back up, amazed at how even from back where she was
she could see his eyelashes...as her mind remebered his clear blue eyes.
Never ever had she seen a man who was outwardly at least, so perfect.
"I said...is that too tight?"
Keesha blinked. "Sorry...I got lost...somewhere. It's fine. Thank..."
"If you thank me one more time..." Jax winked as he looked at her. "It's
my pleasure...let me see your hands." he moved further up the bed.
"I already disinfected them..." she said as he looked at them. She pulled
one hand away to cover her mouth as she yawned.
"Well, I think that's my cue...lie down..."
Again Keesha did as Jax asked.
"It was very nice meeting you, Keesha."
"Likewise...."
"Nope...no thanking, remember." He stood from the bed, going over to the
rocking chair in the corner. He pulled the cover from the back and came
back over, draping it over Keesha's body.
By the time he finished tucking her in, Keesha was fast asleep. He walked
over to the front of the bed, finding himself kneeling. He stared at her.
Mrs. Sellers had commented that she was "rather lovely".
Rather lovely didn't come close to doing her justice Jax had realized
even just when he looked into her eyes for the first time a number of
hours ago.
He continued to be mesmerized by her beauty, even as she slept. He stood,
bending forward and placing a small kiss on her cheek. Keesha sighed as
she slept and Jax pushed her hair back from her eyes...
He blinked, letting go and leaving the room quickly.
Jax found his bike right where he left it. He got on and pulled his key
from his jeans, starting it up. He glanced over, seeing the house in the
distance. "Time to go," he told himself and sped off down the road.
