Chapter 93

"General."

"Yes Amy, This is Jax...fine thank you, however I need for you to give me Deitrich right away." Jax spoke quickly.

"The roads can't be closed!" Keesha's voice lowered as her panic started to rise. "We have to get out of here...."

"Shh..." Jax whispered softly, squeezing her hand in comfort. "Everything will be fine...."

"Dr. Deitrich," the male voice said curtly.

"Yes..." Jax let go of Keesha's hand answering into the phone. "This is Jasper Jacks..."

"Jax, of course. How are you."

"Well...Keesha's having contractions, and..."

"You can't get her here because of the roads."

Deitrich nodded. "Okay how far apart are they."

Jax glanced at Keesha as she took deep breaths, trying to prepare herself for another contraction. "Around 15, 20 minutes." Jax grabbed Keesha's hand again, shocked by how much strength she mustered as she squeezed, as if she were holding onto dear life. She opened her eyes once more. "Ow." he mouthed, trying to lighten the mood. "Yes...I'll hold." he answered the doctor's question. Jax pressed the speaker phone button, hanging the receiver on the cradle so he could focus entirely on Keesha once more. "You're doing fine."

Keesha managed a smile. "We're doing okay. We'll be fine..." she closed her eyes as Jax started breathing with her.

But after five minutes of breathing and the classical music playing in the background as Jax continued to wait on hold for the doctor, Keesha started to have doubts. She kept her eyes closed, trying not to show Jax how worried she was.

But she was petrified.

She had already lost two children.

And now, so close to finally having their child, she couldn't get to where she needed to be. The roads were closed, there were no doctor's to go to, no one there to help if something started to go wrong.

"Jax, we've got to get out of here..." she opened her eyes and looked at him. And his own panic started to rise as he looked at the fear in Keesha's eyes.

"Keesha..."

"I'm so scared..." she admitted.

"Honey, don't be...everything will be fine. I refuse to believe that life would be cruel to us now....I am here, and I will take care of you. I always said I would take care of you...and I've always tried..." "I'm sorry..." the doctor apologized as he came on the line once more.

Suddenly Jax got an idea. "Is Monica Quartermaine there..." he asked the doctor.

"Oh God..." Keesha moaned as another contraction ripped through her.

"Is she having another contraction already?"

"I think so...yes..."

"Jax, is there anyone you think you can get to that can help..."

"No!" Keesha held on to Jax's hand. He had to stay there. He had to stay with her.

"No," Jax answered calmly, pushing Keesha's hair back with his free hand.

"Then you will have to do this."

Keesha swallowed, looking into Jax's eyes. "I'm sorry...go on....isn't the neighbor like two blocks down a nurse...can you make it there?"

"I could." Jax nodded. "But I won't. Because I'm staying here. And you, and I will do this. With a little help. I'll call her though and see if she can get over here." he bent over, kissing her lips sweetly. "We need Monica," he spoke back into the phone again.

"Okay, I'll see if she's in. In the mean time, get some water and some towels and lay Keesha where she has room, but isn't lying straight on her back." The doctor put Jax back on hold.

"Okay...we're going upstairs." Jax stood up and carefully, yet effortlessly, picked Keesha up off the sofa. "And you and I will do this. Okay..."

"Jax we..."

"Okay?"

Keesha stared into the sea of Jax's eyes. "How do you do that?"

"Do what?" Jax started carrying her up the stairs.

"Manage to always help me." she replied as her nerves calmed somewhat.

"Purely selfish reasons." Jax laid her gingerly down on the bed. "If I don't help you, then who will help me. I love you."

"I love you."

Jax gave Keesha another kiss. He reached over and took the upstairs phone off the hook and the classical music from the hospital started to fill the room. "I'll be right back."

"We'll be right here." Keesha smiled and watched as he ran out of the room.

"We need you push again Keesha..." Deitrich coached through the connection, laced with static.

"Breathe and push, sweetheart." Jax replied in his softest voice.

"Jax...you're doing great," the doctor stated.

"Yeah...who needs a nurse, when you have me, right Keesha..."

Jax looked up, startled as a string of loud curse words flowed out of Keesha's mouth as she pushed once more.

"Wow. Justus would be proud." Monica teased from the other end of the phone. "Keesha?"

"She's doing fine." Jax answered, wanting to reach over her and wipe away the tear that fell at the mention of her cousin. He looked down once more. "Oh my God..."

"What?"

"I can...I can see..."

"The head?" Monica prayed happily.

"Yes..." Jax choked.

"Good, now Jax..."

And at that moment the line went dead.

Keesha forced herself to continue her breathing, glancing over to the phone. "Now what..."

Jax closed his mouth, shaking his head, trying not to become overwhelmed by the miracle happening right before his very eyes. He took a deep breath and looked back up at Keesha again. "Now you push Keesha...just reach down inside, and give me just one more push..."

Keesha reached above her, grabbing on to the edge of the headboard. She took three deep breaths...

Reached down inside.

And gave Jax one more push.

"Please God..." Keesha collapsed completely and totally exhausted.

Her eyes remaining shut as she listened to the silence.

And then it came.

Keesha's eyes opened at the sound of a cry filling the room.

"Welcome, my littlest Angel." Jax whispered to the small baby he cradled in one arm. "I'm almost done..." he said even as he walked over near Keesha. The baby stopped crying. "Let's go tell your Mum how loved she is, shall we?"

Keesha sat up slightly, more tears filling her eyes. "Jax..."

A tear fell from Jax's eyes and he sat down right next to Keesha. "Say hello to our little girl."

Keesha broke eye contact with Jax. She reached out, taking her gingerly. "She's beautiful..."

"Don't cry..." Jax laughed, wiping her tears before wiping away another of his own. "You did it...every little finger, and every little toe..." Jax breathed a sigh of relief. "You did it..."

"We." Keesha smiled, looking at Jax once more.

"We." Jax agreed, kissing Keesha's forhead softly before settling back, smiling as their little girl took her first yawn.
