Chapter 89
Keesha looked down, playing with her wedding ring, nervously. Finally,
Jax spoke, simply saying her name. She looked back up, taking the hand he
held out for her.
Jax closed the remaining space between them, wrapping his arms around her
tightly. Keesha returned his hug, continuing to wait.
They stayed like this for awhile, neither of them speaking. Until,
suddenly, Jax picked her up from the ground, swinging her around as he
laughed. “YES!”
Keesha smiled, breathing a smile of releif as she continued to be twirled
in the air.
“You’re pregnant? That’s *wonderful* news.” Katherine smiled at Keesha
as they ate lunch with Nikolas. “I smell an ad coming on.” she winked at
Nikolas.
Keesha smiled. “Do you honestly think I want to be forever remembered in
pregancy? I don’t think so.”
“Nothing is more beautiful than a woman who is pregnant.” Nikolas
commented. He stood as Katherine did. Katherine bent over and kissed
Nikolas on the cheek, Keesha noted. Things must be *on* again.
“Work your magic, darling.” she whispered, yet was loud enough for Keesha
to hear.
Keesha waited until Katherine was gone. “I have something to ask you.”
Nikolas finished his water. “Yes?”
“Miranda says she never told you about Jax’s baby.”
“Of course she told me.”
“She swears she didn’t.”
“Who are you going to beleive.”
Keesha shrugged. “I don’t think it matters what I beleive. I think it
matters what Jerry beleives though. Not to mention Mac. And Lucky,
because you know that Luke would get involved. I would shut her up if I
was you...” her voice trailed as Katherine joined the table once more.
“Well?”
“I have to pass, I’m sorry.” Keesha finished her lunch, standing.
“Working for you two would be way too much stress on me. Sorry.” she
walked away.
“Stress? What does that mean?” Katherine looked over at Nikolas.
“Who knows...perhaps it’s a hormonal thing.”
Jax left the nursery, walking into the master suite. He found Keesha fast
asleep, the light from her bedlamp, illuminating on the book she held open
on her chest. He walked over quietly, easing the book from her hands.
*Taking Care of your Unborn Child* he read to himself. Jax turned out the
light, walking over to the window. He looked outside, staring up at the
sky, watching as the sun continued to set. “I know I have asked you for a
lot...” he spoke softly. “And you’ve given me so much. You brought
Keesha back to me, you delivered Laurence to me, you’ve kept Jerry safe,
you kept me out of prision. And I thank you for that. But...I need
something else. Please. Let Keesha and I have this child...please.
Don’t let anything happen to her, or our baby...” Jax stopped speaking,
turning at Keesha’s light touch on his arm. He smiled at her, bending and
enclosing her in a hug.
“Please.” he finished to himself.
Jax groaned at the incessant ringing of their house phone. “What?” he
mumbled.
“Did you know that Miranda is out?”
Jax sat up at his brother’s voice.
“What?”
“Miranda is no longer in jail. Nikolas paid her bail, and now she’s
disappeared.” Jerry paced his living room. “Would you happen to know
anything about that?”
Jax glanced over at Keesha, still sleeping on her side of the bed.
She did it. She got Miranda out of town. She had said that Nikolas would
get rid of Miranda rather than have the truth come out, and she was right.
Miranda had to be gone out of their lives now. Hopefully this time for
good.
“I didn’t have anything to do with that.” Jax told the truth, yet kept
the part about Keesha to himself.
Jerry was quiet. After a moment he nodded. “No loss. How is Keesha?”
“Asleep no thanks to you.”
“Oh, sorry. Bye.” Jerry hung up and Jax followed suit, leaning back down
in the bed and closing his eyes once more.
