Chapter 82

Jax turned as the front door opened. "Hi." he smiled at Keesha. "Hey." she whispered softly. She had taken all of her frustration out on the open road, and then came home. Jax would tell her when he wanted to. He must have his reasons... "How did it go?" Jax sat down on the couch, patting the seat next to him. "Okay." Jax wrapped an arm around her waist and Keesha rested her head on his shoulder. He still smelled faintly of baby powder. "I have to tell you something." "Okay." Jax ran his fingers through her hair. The best way to tell Keesha anything was to just tell her. "Before we, became involved, I dated other women...one of them was named Deidre....Keesha?" Jax looked over at her and noticed her eyes were closed. "Uh huh." Keesha debated stopping him, telling him that she knew, but she didn't. This was something she wanted to hear from Jax. Who cared if Nikolas had told her first. "And I just saw her today, for the first time since we quit seeing each other. And..." Jax took a deep breath. "...she told me that she beleives she had my child." Keesha opened her eyes, looking out into nothing. "Keesha?" "Uh huh." Jax's hand slid down her side, and he rested it against her waist. "There's going to be a blood test tomorrow, to be sure. But he could very well be my son." he warned. Once again it was quiet. "Keesha, will you say something?" "I don't have anything to say." She had been through this before, in a way, with AJ when he thought, he found out later correctly thought, that he could be Michael's father. There was nothing to say in a situation like this. Especially not to Jax. The situation was similar, yet entirely different. She loved Jax completely. Jax was meant to be a father. And he wanted to be one. Keesha knew it would devastate him if this child wasn't his. Of couse, she also knew everything would change between them if the child was Jax's son. There was nothing to say in a situation like this Nothing but, "Do you want me to come with you tomorrow?" Jerry sat quietly, watching as Jax fidgeted in his chair while Bobbie took Laurence to be tested in the doctor's office. "When will you get the results." he asked Jax. "Tonight....what are you thinking." "Nothing." Jerry answered. Nothing that Jax wanted to hear anyway. Jax didn't want to hear that he hoped that this baby wasn't his-Jax had already bonded with Laurence, he could tell by the way his brother even looked at him. This baby would cause nothing but trouble, and the sooner he was out of Jax's life the better things would be. "I thought you said Keesha was coming." "She'll be here." Jax sat up in his chair once more. Jason said the orginal log was kept in here...Miranda continued searching the drawers in the security office of GH. No one had questioned her signing in the day of Sonny's murder before, but now that things were heating up in the investigation against AJ-it was only a matter of time that they connected Peter to her...unless she got the evidence first. Keesha got off the elevator, walking over to the Nurses' station. "Amy, I'm looking for Dr. McCain." "He's one floor below." "Thanks." Keesha took the stairs down a floor, and started her way down the hall. She paused in front of a door, hearing noises within. Miranda looked up. "What are you doing here?" Keesha asked as she opened the door. "None of your business. What are you doing here...oh is that test today? That's why Jax is here. So he told you after all." Miranda smirked. "Actually my original question stands-why are you here. He surely doesn't need you anymore does he?" "If you even think of tampering with these results, I will hunt you down and kill you myself." "Tampering? Why would I do something like that?" "To cause problems..." "If that winds up being Jax's bastard and your marriage falls down the tubes, you can blame Jax, not me. But you know what they say, third time's the charm. I mean come on, Brenda thought she was pregnant, he even got you pregnant didn't he?" "Mr. Jacks, we're ready for you now." Jax stood. "Tell.." "I'll tell her you went in." Jerry answered, watching as Jax went down the hall. "If she shows." "How do you know about that?" "I know a lot of things. Like it was the second baby you lost...you know, maybe you weren't meant to be a mother..." All of a sudden Taggert pulled Keesha back as he and Alex Garcia barged in. "Hands in the air!" Taggert yelled at Miranda. "NOW!" "You set me up!" Miranda yelled at Keesha. If it wasn't for Keesha, Miranda would have been out of that office by now. "What about her-she's not supposed to be in here either!" "You think we're here for a simple breaking and entering? We're here to charge you with the murders of Sonny and Hannah Corinthos. Alex, will you do the honor..." Miranda blinked, and then glared at Keesha. "You had something to do with this...didn't you?!" Keesha took a breath, shaking her head as she walked away. "Jerry?" "What's all the commotion about." "Miranda's being arrested for Sonny's murder...where's Jax." "What?" "Where's Jax?" "Oh...He just went in." Jerry sat back down, Keesha sitting across from him. "I think that Bobbie should be the only one to handle the..." "She is. All precautions are being taken. How are you?" Keesha smiled. "Fine." she said with a breath. "Keesha...have you discussed what you're going to do, if Laurence is Jax's son." "What's there to discuss?" "A lot I would think." Keesha shrugged. She was going to do exactly what her grandmother had taught her a long time ago. Sit back, evaluate, and do what was best for everybody. And right now, she wasn't sure what the "best" would be. "Jax loves you, you know." Jerry's voice brought her back to reality. "Yes, I know that." Jax and Keesha laid in the bed silently. Her head was resting against his chest, her fingers trailing lightly across his stomach. He stroked her hair softly. And they waited. The phone rang. Keesha leaned up and Jax left the bed, going over to the phone. "This is Jax...yes Bobbie...are you sure?...alright...thank you..." he hung up, staring at the phone as what Bobbie said finally made it's way throughout him. He... Keesha stood from the bed, rubbing her arms. He didn't have to say anything, she could already tell. "I have to..." Jax began as he looked back at her. "Go on." she smiled. Jax grabbed his keys off the desk and ran out of the room. Jax was a father..."Wait!" she bolted after him. She opened the door, hearing the car speed away. "Congratulations." she breathed, sitting on the porch step. Diedre opened the door, Laurence wrapped in her arms. "Congratulations, Jax." Jax's eyes lit up. "Hi..." he cooed to the baby, taking him and enclosing him in a hug, his heart overflowing with love. Shani
