Chapter 74

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, hold on!" Keesha yelled as she tightened her robe, running down the stairs. She peaked through the peephole. "Can I help you?" she asked as she opened the door. "Hi Keesha!" a woman exclaimed as she walked into the house. "Um...can I help you?" Keesha turned, looking at the woman oddly. "Oh sorry, I'm Marcia Alastair." she reached in her pocket, handing Keesha a card. "I've been so looking forward to meeting you. Jax just raves on and on..." "Who are you?" Keesha looked at the card. "And how do you know Jax?" "I work for Rainbow Showers Facial and Spa in Inglewood, California...that's right outside of..." "Los Angeles, I'm aware. But, and I mean this in the most polite way possible, why are you in my house." "Jax sent me." "Jax sent you?" "Yes. He said he'd never be able to get you to go for a day of pampering, so he's brought the pampering to you." Keesha sighed, smiling. That would explain the giant grin Jax had all morning at breakfast. "But we have to hurry." "I have to be pampered in a hurry. Isn't that an oxy-moron." Marica laughed. "I guess." she chirped happily. "But Jax wants you ready by 6:00." "PM? But it's not even noon." "Well, as I said, it's a day." "What happens at 6:00..." "Mrs. Jacks?" Keesha turned, glancing over at the doorway. "Yes?" "I have a package for you." "Oookay..." she reached over and signed, taking the giant box. "Let me get my purse...." "Handled. Afternoon." the delivery guy left. "I beleive you're supposed to wear that." Marcia grinned. "We really do have to hurry..." "Okay...okay." Keesha closed the door. "You can come this way." she led Marcia up the stairs. "Yes..." Jax said into the telephone as he pointed to an item in the display case. "...make sure she's ready....alright." he finished and hung up, looking at the sales clerk. "My apologies." "Of course." Jax looked at gold band, circled in sapphires. He nodded. "I'll take it." "Excellent choice, sir." "I know." Jax grinned. It was absolutely perfect. "You are so very stuck on yourself." Jax turned around, laughing. "Must be a Jacks family trait." "Okay, so what was the reason you have for dragging me away from my lunch." Jerry looked in the glass case. He wondered if it was time for him... Nah. Jerry turned away, looking over at Jax. "I'm going to be busy tonight." "You and your romantic notions. But you could have told me this over the phone." Jax shrugged, reaching in his wallet for his credit card. He gave it to the clerk and waited until he went to the back. "Over the phone I can't read your expression. So look at me." "Do I *have* to..." Jerry teased. "Jerry, I'm serious." Jerry stared at Jax, waiting. "Do not...I repeat...do not bother with AJ. Not you, not our parents. If he starts something, let him rant and rave, but leave it at that. Think you can do that." "Sure." Jerry said honestly. Jax continued to watch. "I promise. Cross my heart and..." "Shut up." "Jax, I mean it. I won't do anything to AJ. Though he deserves it. And though I know you don't beleive me, so I probably could get away with it anyway. But I won't. I promise." Jax rolled his eyes as he leaned over the counter, waiting for the clerk to come from the back. "Jax?" Jax blinked in shock as Jerry touched his hair. "I promise." he whispered and Jax watched as he walked away. Keesha opened the box. "Oh." she breathed, looking down at the long sleeveless blue gown, and wrap enclosed inside. She held it up. "Oh." she repeated. She sighed, a smile growing across her face. As she said, Jax was an angel. Jax walked into the house, lifiting the switch to turn on the light. "Keesha..." he fiddled with the switch. "What happened to the light..." he jumped as the door closed behind him. "Close your eyes." Keesha said from behind him. "Keesha..." Keesha reached up, placing her hands over Jax's eyes. "Okay..." she moved in front of him. "If you peak I'll never forgive you." "Sure you will." "Okay, but don't peak anyway." She took Jax's hand, leading him through the house and out to the back porch. She went behind him again. "Okay...open." she said, crossing her fingers. Jax opened his eyes, shaking his head in awe. "Keesha..." he walked ahead, bending and looking into the giant telescope. She noticed his fascination with the night sky from the first night she spent with him. And she remembered many nights with her head resting against his chest as he whispered to her the stories behind the constellations. "I just thought that my angel from heaven might miss his home. So, this will allow you to take a peak back now and again." Jax withdrew from the telescope, bending his head in slight embarassment at her complimant. "I love it. Thank you....wow." he stated softly as he finally looked at her, his eyes glowing with in admiration. "Speaking of heaven." "Thank you." she glanced down, and then back up. She added with a wink. "My husband has exqusite taste, if I do say so myself." "I like that idea." "What idea?" Jax closed the space between them. He bent down slightly so he could look into her eyes. "Tasting..." he mumbled softly, brushing his lips across hers. Her eyes fluttered closed and he wrapped his arms around her, drawing her to his body as their kiss deepened. Shani
