Chapter 72
Chapter 72
"Hold all my calls." Jax said into the intercom.
"Yes, Sir." Jerry's personal assistant answered as Jerry looked over her
shoulder. She disconnected and looked at her boss.
"Aren't I brillant." he winked and walked down the hall to Jax's office,
knocking.
"Enter...make this quick Jerry, I have a meeting."
"I know. Meet Mr. Timber of Laken Technologies." Jerry smiled, sitting
down.
"What?"
"You've cleared your calendar you have nothing else to do except for talk
with me. So what's going on?"
Jax glared at Jerry. "How's Bobbie?"
"She..."
"Why don't you focus on your life and stay the hell out of mine. Since
you cleared my calendar for me, I'm going to have lunch with my wife."
"Have you argued yet?"
"What?"
"Because you were angry with her, and you had every right to be.
Obviously you're trying to forget that, because you're running arond
playing the distraction method."
"Enlighten me."
"Sure. You are trying to get your life the way you want it to be so that
you won't be forced to think about the way it is, and how you got there."
Jax was silent. Jerry had no idea just how right he was.
"Arguing with Keesha over something that happened before...everything
would be completely pointless. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't
matter. And if I want to try and get our lives back on track, then what
of it? Now...next time you want to discuss personal matters, feel free to
discuss your own, not mine because my marriage is none of your concern."
"You're in denial. Take it from the master. Pretending there are no
problems, aren't going to make anything go away."
Keesha sighed as she saw Jason standing with Carly. She knew that he was
the one who saved her, otherwise Jerry would have testified and he'd be in
jail right now. She had been doing a really good job of avoding him. But
avoiding him wouldn't make any of this go away. She walked down the
stairs of the docks. "Jason?"
Jason turned at the sound of his name.
"I need to thank you." she said simply.
"Okay." Jason turned back around.
Keesha hated trying to have a conversation with him. She walked over and
stood in front of him. "That's all you have to say?"
"What else do you want me to say. You thanked me, I said okay...or was I
supposed to say you're welcome."
Keesha cut her eyes. "So is this it?"
"Well, I don't need anything from you, if that's what you're asking."
"Or Jax, or Jerry..."
"If I did, it would be between me and them."
"Not..."
"Keesha. I said okay. Leave it at that." he finished. "Let's go." he
said to Carly.
"In a minute."
Jason shfugged and walked away, leaving them alone.
Keesha groaned, watching him go and then looked back out into the water.
"Well well well, if it isn't the luckiest woman around."
"What Carly?"
"Don't you have your own husband to bore?"
"Jealousy isn't a becoming attribute, Carly."
" *Becoming attribute*? God, you even talk like them."
Keesha sighed, finally looking at Carly. "Who?"
"Them, the Quatermaines, the Jacks, all of them. You've become just like
what you used to hate..."
"How would you know what I hate, in the past or now."
"We used to talk remember?"
"Oh yeah, all before you tried to set me up to get AJ off your back."
"You know, you used to stand for something. Now you're just like all of
them, running around making threats, wanting to know all, control all.
Even on the outside, you're a completely different person.." Carly ran
her fingers over Keesha' s silk blouse.
"Says the woman wearing thousands of dollars worth of jewlery, trying so
desperately not to look like the pathetic tramp she is."
Carly froze, but only for a second. "Honey, you're no better than me..."
she countered.
Keesha took a breath and their eyes locked. "I don't have time for this."
she decided. "Good afternoon." she walked up the stairs of the docks.
"Hello?" she answered her cellular.
"Where are you?"
"At the docks."
"Good, I'll send the limo, and we can have lunch, alright...Keesha?"
"Yes, Jax." she said finally hanging up and looking back over at where
Carly stood.
Jax held Keesha tightly to him, groaning his release. She smiled,
unwrapping her legs from around his waist, settling her feet on the floor
of the limosine. She kissed him passionately as she pulled her shirt back
up over her body. "Okay, now I'm starving." she smiled against his
mouth. Glancing up into Jax's eyes, suddenly she felt...her grin faded.
"What?"
"I love you." she whispered, stroking his cheek. "Are you happy?"
"Are you happy?"
"Very."
"Then there's your answer." he placed a small kiss on her lips. "Let me
make myself more presentable, and we'll go into the restaurant."
Keesha climbed off Jax's lap, sitting across him as she fixed her own
clothes. She glanced up as his cellular rang.
"Jax."
"Hi, it's me. I'm back."
"Hi V. How did it go?"
"Peter's dead."
Keesha watched as Jax's face grew dark.
"So is Benjamin." V continued.
"Where are you?"
"I'm at Mac's right now...he's not here. Is there anything else you need?"
"No, thanks. I'm going to send someone to your place to check it out."
"I figured you would." V laughed. "That's why I came here. But I want to
sleep in my own bed tonight."
"Okay...okay...bye V." Jax hung up. "Ready?" he decided to leave his tie
off and pushed it to the side.
"Business?"
"Yeah."
Keesha nodded. "Ready."
Jax pressed the intercom and a few seconds later the chauffer opened the
door, leading Keesha out of the limosine.
Miranda paced, drinking her wine. So the deaths were common knowledge
now. That meant people would be snooping, and that could be dangerous.
"Nikolas?"
Nikolas turned and looked at her.
"Take me back to Port Charles."
"Miranda..."
"Please, I need to be with you."
Nikolas' heart skipped. She was so close to admitting that she loved him,
he just knew it.
"Alright." he agreed.
