Chapter 71

Jax sat quietly in the room, watching as Keesha was examined by Monica. "When can I go home?" Keesha asked impatiently. "With any luck, Jax can take you home today." Jax smiled. Jerry had just left this morning, and now he would be able to take Keesha home too? As he told V a few days ago, life could be good that way. "Come on, we need to do an x-ray..." Jax sat up as Monica came back into the waiting room. "She's going to be led back to her room. I need to talk to you..." she walked away quickly. Jax stood bewildered, following her into the corner. "This goes against every, and I mean *every* ethical responsibility I have to Keesha, but I...I'm not too sure she should be told...so I'm telling you." "What?" "When Keesha was brought in we did a thorough examination...and I mean *thorough*..." "Oh God...was she..." "No." Monica placed her hand on top of Jax's. "But she...how should I..." "Just say it!" Jax whispered urgently. "She was pregnant." "Keesha's pregnant?" "She was pregnant, and...now she's not. And looking at her records, and the fetus, and the likely date of conception and the likely date that the pregnancy ended...I would say it ended during the time she was missing." Jax took a sharp breath, leaning up and staring at Monica. "What?" he repeated. "Keesha was...Jax..." Monica watched as Jax walked away slowly. Twice? Keesha could have been a mother, twice? For a split second, once again Jax thought he was going to be a father? AJ did this twice? Jax walked quickly back to Keesha's room, pushing open the door. "Hey." Keesha smiled. "I just got the go ahead, so don't even think about leaving until you get me the hell out of here...." her thoughts were interrupted by his deep kiss. He pulled away, cupping her face in his hands. "Wow..." she grinned. "What was that for?" "I love you so much Keesha." "I love you too..." "Have you thought about starting a family with me?" Keesha's smile grew. "Oh only since the very first time we made love." she winked. "Why?" Jax kissed her hands. "Because I was thinking, that our house is a little big, for just the two of us." He took a breath as her eyes lit up. "Really?" "Really." he nodded, giving her lips a small peck before enclosing her in a hug. His eyes growing dark as he tightened his hold. Keesha awoke to the sound of rain against the window pane. Their window pane, she thought with a sigh. It was so good to be back home. With Jax. Everyone was safe, happy. No one and nothing to worry about. She reached over and took the card Elizabeth had brought into the hospital room from the nighstand. She never did get a chance to read it. She rested against Jax's chest, listening to him take a deep breath before falling completely back to sleep. She looked at all the signatures Elizabeth had gathered. It would be a few months before she could start school again...start working again. She shifted, draping her arm across Jax's stomach. And for the first time, doing *nothing* Keesha closed her eyes Seemed like the most perfect thing in the world. She placed a small kiss on Jax's chest before getting up and going into the bathroom to shower. Jax opened his eyes at the sound of the water. He picked up the phone, dialing. "Commisioner Scorpio." "Yeah it's me...what's going on with Qaurtermaine?" "Now Jax, as much as we appreciate..." "Listen to me. Either you tell me, or expect there to be trouble." "Jax...what are you planning?" "No discussion. Tell me." A week passed. Dara closed the door to her office. "Sorry to keep you waiting." Jax watched as she sat down. "Actually your office should be sorrier for a hell of a lot more than that." Dara sighed deeply. "Sometimes the justice system..." "Save it." Jax leaned up in his chair. "I'll be blunt, it would benefit your office, given your most recent mistakes...my ordeal...losing the case against Morgan..." "Because your brother refuses to testify." "Like I said, save it. You need another win. Moreno's was good..." Jax leaned back in his chair. "But you still don't know who killed Corinthos and Hannah. But you find out who AJ was working with and you will." "AJ co-operated with that." "Peter doesn't work for himself. Someone put him up to all of this." "Mr. Jacks...I guarantee that our office, and I *know* that you, are looking for Peter to speak with him." "You know?" he asked simply. "I will make you a deal, what our office finds, we will give to you, and what you find you give to us." Jax stood. "Actually what your office finds, you will give to me...as for me, if I find anything whether I give it to you or not will depend." "Then this meeting is over. I will not be bullied..." "I am not bullying. I am merely stating facts. This so-called justice system took away..." he stopped himself. "...put me and my entire family through hell. Ask Mac what happens when my family is put through hell. Now whether things get bad for this office depends on one person. Me. I played by your rules, and I don't like that game. So now we play by mine." Jax finished, walking to the door. "Good afternoon, Ms. Jensen." he stated, leaving. Keesha held the dress up in front of her, backing up so she could get a full view. "Oh...excuse me..." she turned around to see who she had bumped into. "Hi Monica!" she grinned, hugging her tightly. "Hi." Monica returned her hug. "How are you?" she asked cautiously. "Just great. Jax is coming home from work early tonight...is there something wrong?" she tilted her head. "I live in a house of Quartermaines, when is there not something wrong?" Keesha laughed as Monica managed a smile. "I should go. Take care of yourself." "You too." Keesha turned back around, holding up the dress once more as Monica watched. Jax didn't tell her. It was probably the best decision. So Monica would just have to make sure no one else found out. Jax took the vase full of new red roses from his desk. He grabbed his briefcase and started out the door. "Hold it..." "What Jerry?" "Sit." "I'm busy." "I can see...but this is the 3rd time this week you've left early. And I know that right now the only place you want to be is where Keesha is, but due to all the...crises around lately....we have way too much work to catch up on for this to continue." Jerry took the vase and sat down. "So I repeat. Sit." Jax groaned, sitting on the edge of his desk. "Whatever you want to do is fine with me, fax me anything, I will sign it and bring it back...work done..." he stood once more. "What's going on in your head baby brother?" "Ways to get you the hell out of my office so I can go home." "Why?" "Didn't you answer that question yourself when you came in here. I want to be with Keesha." "Yeah, but avoiding work is my tactic not yours. Throughout everything, you've always been the one who worked anyway...because it's more than work to you, it's how you live..." "Jerry..." "So, for you to be completely flaking as you have been, means that there is something weighing heavily on your mind..." "Gee...I wonder why...Jerry, I have to go..." Jax grabbed the roses. "Is something wrong at home? Because take it from the expert of denial, trying to cover it with romantic nights without actually talking it through will only get you so..." Jerry turned, watching as Jax left, closing the door. "...far." "...so I was thinking..." Jax mumbled as he entertwined their legs. He kissed Keesha gently. "...that we could go away this weekend." Keesha ran her fingers up and down Jax's spine. "That sounds wonderful..." she whispered, returning his soft kiss. "Where to?" "Wherever..." he nuzzled against her neck, taking in the scent of her. "Where would you like to go?" "Anywhere...nowhere..." she grinned. "You know...when you decide something you really go all out..." she moaned as Jax ran his tongue up the front of her neck, ending at her mouth with a passionate kiss. "Shhh..." he begged softly, kissing her once more. Shani
