Chapter 65

"I don't know..." Keesha began, jumping out of the way as officers ran past her. Mac stopped and looked at her and Jax. He came up to Alex and whispered in his ear. When he was finished he said outloud. "Take him away." Keesha turned and looked at Jax, forcing herself not to cry. "I love you," they said in unison. She reached up, giving him a small kiss before Alex pulled him away. She watched him disappear from sight. Mac slowly touched her shoulder as she choked, and placed her hand across her mouth, the tears starting to fall. "I'm sorry..." Keesha tore away. "Stay away from me." she wiped her face. Mac cleared his throat. "I have to talk to you, it's about Jerry." "What about him?" "He's been shot....he's breathing, that's all I know. I have Alex telling Jax now...because you can't see him yet. You can't see him until tomorrow..." Mac watched as Keesha ran out of the police station. "Tell me." "Just sit down!" Alex ordered again. Jax cut his eyes at Alex. Slowly he went over to his cot and sat down. "It's..." "Let me tell him." Taggert came in from nowhere. "TELL ME WHAT?!" Jax repeated, his anger and frustration growing. Alex left Jax's holding cell and Taggert closed the door. "Tell me *now*!" Jax stood once more. "Jerry was shot." "What?" "Jerry was shot." Taggert repeated softly. Jax shook his head. "No...no, that can't be..." "He's at General. Bobbie is with him. We had a car rush your parents there." Jax continued to shake his head. "No...." a tear fell. He looked up. "How is he?" Taggert sighed. "He's in surgery right now." Jax shook his head, repeating again "No." "Everyone is with him. He's not alone. Your parents, Bobbie, Keesha,V." "I should be there." "I promise I'll keep you informed." Taggert stood, uncomfortable. "Every hour." Jax looked up, the fear all over his face. "Every hour." Taggert agreed, turning Jax around and taking off his cuffs. Jax watched as Taggert left. He looked around, completely alone. "Jerry please...please don't die." Jax whispered, looking up. Peter threw his gun into the fire. Jax was in jail. Jerry was in the hospital. Peter had aimed to kill him, but then Bobbie came running up, and he wasn't paid for two bodies. Just one. At least Jerry was out of commision. He wouldn't be going anywhere, or finding anything that could get Jax off. And with both of their sons in crisis, that meant John and Jane were staying right here. "Jerry is going to be fine. We were able to remove the bullets." Keesha held on to Bobbie tightly as Bobbie cried. "When can we see him?" Jane asked hopefully. "You can see him now. He's sleeping right now, but you can see him." Alan answered. "When can he get out?" V asked. "That's another story...the bullets were lodged very closely to his liver and his spleen. We want to keep him here for a couple of weeks, for recuperation. To make sure that we didn't miss a fragment, or there wasn't some other damage." Bobbie sighed. Jerry wouldn't take that well. The moment he woke up, he was going to want to be with Jax. "Are you going to make him, or is it his choice?" "There is no choice. We're requring him to stay." Keesha ran down the hall of the court house. Jax's bail hearing was first thing this morning, and she wanted to talk to him first to assure him that Jerry was fine. Her phone rang, and she picked it up. "What?" "Mrs. Jacks..." came the voice in broken Spanish. Keesha froze. "My son, remembers seeing your husband. La Zona Fabuloso, there in Port Charles." "Pardon?" The man looked up at Jason, pointing the gun to his head. The promise of more money had led the man to Port Charles, despite AJ's insitence he stay away. But when he got there all he found was Jason, and a couple of Moreno's men. "My son. Come and see me. At the old coffee wherehouse. You come?" Keesha took a breath. "In an hour." "No. Now. Or else I go." Keesha looked down the hall as police led Jax over to his parents. She took a breath and hung up. She ran over quickly, pushing her way through the guards and media. The reporters camera's flashed madly as Keesha kissed Jax until finally Alex got her away. "Jerry is fine. And I love you." Jax watched as she bolted out of the courthouse without another word. "Great job." Jason uncocked his gun and reached into his pocket, handing the man a wad of money. "Now get out." "Gracias." the man thanked him and ran. "What are you going to do?" Jason looked over at one of Moreno's men. "None of your business. Get out." Jason shrugged and left the warehouse. "Where did she go?" Alexis whispered. "I don't know." Jax repeated. "She should be here." "Something important must have come up." Jax stood as the judge came in. "Counselor?" he looked at Alexis. "My client is not a flight risk. His brother was just shot, and is in General where he will stay for at least 2 weeks. Mr. Jacks isn't going anywhere." "There's going to be a bail, so don't even ask for there not to be one." "The defendant is a flight risk. He's jumped bail before." "Funny, he was innocent before too." The assistant DA cut his eyes at Alexis. "This is a double homicide charge. The defendant is worth almost $20 million dollars alone. His brother is worth $10. And his parents, also $10. We ask that bail be set at $50 million." The court room gasped. "But you've just done the math. They can't come up with that kind of money. That's $10 million more than they have combined." "That's the point. He is a cold, calculated..." "Enough counselor. I'll set the bail at $45 million." "Your honor..." "That's all. Now on to the matter of a trial date." Jason watched as the man carried an unconcious Keesha to the trunk of the limosine. He placed her in and drove off. "Where's Keesha?" "Are you listening to me?! We have to prepare for trial. It's in one week." "WHERE'S KEESHA?!" Jax snapped at Alexis. "I don't know. I told you, I had Ned stop by the house, and he's been calling every hour on the hour, but she won't answer." Jax stood and knocked on the door. "What are you doing?" "Find my wife. Then we'll talk." he answered as the officer opened the door, leading Jax back to his cell. "Visitor." Jax looked up from the cot. "Who?" "As always, you'll see." The officer opened Jax's cell and walked him over to the visiting room. He left him and closed the door. "Do you beleive in miracles?" Jax looked up, his eyes cold. "What do you want Morgan." "Missing someone?" "What..." Jax tried to stand but he was handcuffed to the desk. "I don't have her. But I know who does. Of course, if someone asks me, I'll deny it. Besides, I don't know *where*. But I can find her I'm sure." "And?" "And then Jerry doesn't testify at my trial." "And you get off." "As I asked, do you believe in miracles." Jax took a breath. Something had happened to her...just like he had feared in his dreams. And he wasn't even able to...."Go." Jason smiled. "Pleasure doing business with you." Shani
