Chapter 59

Jerry watched as Jax whispered into Keesha's ear, causing her to laugh quietly. Jax pulled back from the hug, placing a small kiss on her lips and watching as she walked into the Qaurtermaine house. "Shouldn't you be joining her?" "I will." Jerry came up to his brother. "How are things...you look like hell." "I look better than you." "I'm serious." "I haven't been sleeping." "Problems?" "Not really...just restless I guess. How about you, are you and Bobbie moving forward." Jerry smirked a reply. "You know, you've been kind of busy lately-what are you working on?" "Side project. Nothing to concern yourself with." Yet, Jerry added to himself as he thought of all the leg work he had put in trying to figure out what Alex was gathering on Jax in regards to the Corinthos' murders. "I should get in there and protect your wife from this crazy family. Why don't you go home." "Yes Mum." Jax laughed and walked over to his limosine. Jerry walked quietly into the Quartermaine living room. He paused, looking over at Keesha and Ned of all people, sitting, huddled together on the couch. "That's it." he said to himself. He was finding this out now. Jerry came over. "Excuse me..." "Hey!" Keesha balked as Jerry grabbed her arm, leading her off the couch. "Where are you two going? The meeting is about..." Edward's voice trailed off as Jerry ignored him, pulling a running Keesha into the hallway. He let her go and shut the main doors. " *What* is your major malfunction?" Keesha snapped, glaring. "Why are you talking to Ned." "Excuse me?" "Ned. You know, the man you hate. Why are you talking to him." "A, I don't *hate* Ned. And B, none of your damn business..." she started to move past him and he grabbed her arm once more. "Might I suggest you let me go now." she ordered, her voice deepening. "I'll let you go as soon as you tell me what you're hiding." "I'm not hiding anything." she yanked her arm from Jerry once more. "And even if I am, it honestly has nothing to do with you." "Wrong. Everything....and I mean everything affecting my baby brother has to do with me. I don't care if you want to tell me....but you had *better* tell him, or I will." "Don't you *dare* threaten me! My relationship with *my* husband is between me and my husband. What I do and don't tell him is between me and him, and you are the *last* person to order anyone around on what to and what not to tell Jax! Now stay out of my business." "Keesha..." Keesha turned and looked at him. "I repeat, either you tell him, or I'm going to go digging and then *I* will tell him. Jax has been mad at me before, he'd get over it. But you two...don't hide anything from him Keesha. I mean it." Keesha cut her eyes at Jerry, shaking her head. Without another word she opened the door and walked back into the living room for the ELQ meeting. Jax sat up in the bed, looking around the bedroom. He could never get more than three hours sleep at a time, before those...visions would invade. He took a deep breath, his frustration growing. What was bringing them on *now*? He got out of the bed, leaving the bedroom and slamming the door behind him. He ran down the stairs, over to his office, and sat in front of the computer turning it on. At least he could get some work done. He took another breath and rested his head on his hands. But he was so damn tired. Jax looked up and swept the papers off his desk in aggravation... "Whoa." Keesha jumped as the papers fell to the floor. "Okay. What's wrong?" "Don't worry about it." Jax looked at his computer screen. "Well, I'm going to worry about it." "There's nothing you can do. I just have a lot on my mind." "Like?" "Damn it Keesha!" he snapped. He closed his eyes and shook his head, glancing over at her. "I'm sorry." "It's okay. Let me help you..." "How was the meeting." Jax changed the subject. "Um...it was...boring." she smiled. "Most of it anyway." "Most of it?" Jax began typing at the keyboard. "I...um...had a talk with Jerry." "Jerry? Why?" Keesha closed the door. She continued staring at Jax, finally taking a breath "This can't go any further. And that includes Jerry alright. Because AJ...he's...he hasn't really been like AJ for awhile." "Alright." Keesha took another breath. "When...a few days after I went to Philidelphia to help take care of my father...I found out I was pregnant....please don't say anything...." "Okay." "I found out, and I was...I was eccstatic you know? The thought of having a baby...of having the baby of the man I loved so much...or thought I loved...filled me with a joy you can't even imagine." "Yes. I can." Keesha tilted her head at him. He continued quietly. "Brenda thought she was pregnant once...it was a complete surprise...but...she wasn't. Yet, I will never forget the feeling when we thought she might be... I'm sorry. Go on." he cleared his throat. Keesha nodded. Jax always understood. "I wanted to tell him in person. But he never came. All that came was the note I told you about. So I didn't know what to do. I mean, I wanted the baby, but I didn't want AJ around, yet I knew I had no right to keep it from him. But I wasn't really given a chance to make a choice, because...um...I lost him...or her...I lost the baby. The doctor said it was stress but..." Keesha's eyes teared up. "That's neither here nor there." she tried to change her mood. "The thing is that there was some sort of mixup...and my hospital records went to General Hospital, because Monica was still listed as my primary care giver. And then right around Justus' funeral got the call from Ned." "Ned?" "Ned, wanted...Ned told me what had been going on with AJ. Things that he had done...in order to keep custody of Michael." "Done?" "Burning down a wherehouse, so that it looked mob related. Those sorts of things. " "Are you kidding me?" She shook her head. "I didn't beleive it either. But when I came back to PC for Justus' funeral, I really watched AJ, and he was...he wasn't AJ. The kind gentle guy I knew was completely gone. All it was about was...owning Carly, and getting Jason. Anyway...Ned had told me that AJ almost found out...about my...about..." "Go on." he whispered. "And he said he was able to convince him that it must have been a lie, by telling him I would have told him...things of that nature. Ned told me that he had to do this, because of how AJ was acting when he had thought he was sure." Keesha knew she'd have to tread really lightly here. "Um...AJ was convinced that...that I had..." "Had an abortion?" "No. But that it was...." "Don't you dare say your fault..." "You know, I probably should have taken better care..." "Keesha, please don't." "AJ thought it could be my fault. And, um, the way he talked was scaring Edward to the point that he and Ned decided I should be warned. Because no one really knows what AJ is capable of anymore. Not when he feels he's lost something that belonged to him. Does that make sense?" "You think AJ will hurt you? I would never let AJ hurt you...." "Jax, AJ...AJ wouldn't *hurt* me, but he would try and make my life a living hell. He might try and hurt you..." "That wouldn't happen either..." "But I don't want you protecting me from AJ too. I just want to live our lives as normally as possible. Okay?" "I understand." "So he can't find out about this. He can't. Because then I'll just worry...and you know how good I am at that." she smiled. "You look so tired, Jax." her grin faded. "I am." Jax reached his hand out to her and she came over, sitting on his lap. "Thank you for telling me." he rested his head against her back. "Mind if I ask what this has to do with Jerry?" "Jerry gave me a push. He kind of reminded me of how special our bond is.in his Jerry way of his..and if I can talk about this with anyone, I can talk about it with you. Hell, I can talk about things with you, I never wanted to talk about at all." Jax was quiet. Then he said. "I'm sorry Keesha." "Yeah...me too. But...you know..." Jax reached over with a groan and answered the interrupting phone. "What?...not now...okay..." Keesha couldn't help but giggle. He was more and more like Jerry all the time. "It's Jerry for you." Keesha reached over, taking the phone. She stood and Jax got up, leaving her alone. "Yes." "Did you tell him?" "Yes. But I don't appreciate being told what to do..." "Good. Now, Keesha, this is important. Please tell me Jax was with you at 8:00 pm, the day of Sonny's...um suicide." "He wasn't. He went out to get me and V something to eat." "Damn..." "Why?" "Did he come back with anything?" "Yes...but that restaurant has closed since, I think. Why?" "What restuarant..." "I don't remember the exact..." "I need the exact name!" "Why?!" "Have you noticed something bothering Jax?" "He's having problems sleeping." "Why?" "Jerry, I've had about enough of you and your questions when you won't even bother to answer mine." "Mac thinks Jax killed Sonny and Hannah." Keesha froze. "But Sonny..." "No. He didn't. And the investigation is heating up. Jax needs an alibi in the worst way. Because then this will all go away. And this has to go away before Jax finds out...does that make sense." "First you want me to be completely honest, and now you're asking me to keep this from him." Keesha jumped as she heard a crash. "Sorry!" Jax yelled. "Jax sounds aggravated." Jerry said knowingly. Jax looked at the mess he made with a sigh. Jax picked up the cordless phone, about ready to hang it up. "I don't like this..." "We'll tell Jax if we have to...but if not, doesn't he deserve some peace?" Keesha sighed. How could she argue with that kind of logic. "I'll find out from V. And I'll call you with the name." "Tomorrow?" "Tomorrow." she hung up, Jerry follwing suit. And Jax finally pressing the off button disconnecting. Shani
