Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Mac looked across the table at Dara. "Do you really think Jax hated
Sonny enough to kill him? Okay, dumb question. But Hannah too?" Dara
asked.
"Look, Jax has complete access to General Hospital, since he's on the
board of directors. That means he has keys to every room. Jax's
whereabouts for the time of Sonny's death are undocumented. Both
Keesha and V were together alone. Jerry was with Bobbie. Taggert, was
with his friend Peter. Jason and Moreno are both in jail, and this
isn't a jail hit. This happens outside of jail..."
"But..."
"Jax got Jason out on bail Dara. I don't care if he put him in there,
he obviously is willing to bring people out if necessary as well. Now
why is Jason out on bail...at the same time, that he gives us the
envelope with pictures of Hannah's and Sonny's bullet-ridden bodies,
and a map of where to find Jax's gun...with Jax's fingerprints...in the
morgue...where Hannah was last seen headed alive."
"Which means that Jax would know that there is a murder investigation,
and for some reason he's bought Jason out? Okay...but wouldn't that
put him on alert of an investigation?"
"Maybe, but maybe he thinks no one cares."
"Why isn't Jason dead?"
"Jason isn't Sonny."
"Neither is Hannah. There are too many holes in this theory. Where
did Jason get this information...should we trust any information given
to us by Jason?"
"What about threats. A student saw Jax and Sonny have an altercation
outside of PCU where Jax threatened to kill him."
"Still too many holes. The only thing you have solid is the gun...but
Jax reported that gun stolen 6 months before the shootings...I can buy
him killing Sonny, I really can. But I'm hung on Hannah. Jax wouldn't
kill Hannah, even to cover his own tracks."
"People are capable of a lot when they hate as much as Jax hated Sonny."
"Either you give me more, or that's that." Dara stood and left the
office.
"Who are you?"
"I work for John." Peter said as he walked up to Juan.
"Haven't I've seen you around Port Charles?" he clutuched the sealed
envelope to his chest.
"Of course. I was there to gather information on Keesha. However Jax
was on to me, so John had to come up with a new plan. Now. Give me
the envelope."
Juan sighed. He supposed that made sense. "What about me?"
"Give me the envelope, and then I will give you what you want."
After a few more seconds of debating, Juan slowly handed the envelope
over. Without another word, Peter handed Juan an envelope for himself.
"Nice doing business with you."
Peter walked over to the car. "Is this it?" Benjamin asked.
"Yes."
"There's nothing here! What do you think is going to do with nothing?"
Peter shook his head. "Benny, it's not about the information per se.
It's about Keesha and Jax knowing that his *family* was digging."
Jax stared out the window. He listened as Taggert again asked "Why
should I tell you?"
"Because you know I'm going to find out anyway." he said quietly into
the phone.
"How's V?"
Jax was silent. "She's well." he finally said.
Taggert sighed. "Moreno's only visitor this entire time has been one
person."
"Who?"
"I don't know...what's in it for me?"
Jax shook his head. "Marcus..."
"Do something for me, and I'll tell you. Otherwise, I will make sure
you never find out." Taggert hung up.
Jax groaned, placing his head against the glass. As he heard the bed
creak he looked over, walking towards it. "Good afternoon." Jax
smiled at Keesha, giving her a kiss.
"It's afternoon? I can't beleive I slept this long..."
Jax gave her a knowing wink. "After all that energy we expended last
night, I surely can."
Keesha shook her head with a laugh. "You are so very naughty."
"Naughty..." he whispered as he leaned in, kissing her again. "You
want to see naughty..." his thoughts were interrupted by a ringing
cellular.
"I think that's mine." Keesha relented. She climbed out of bed and
walked over to the table, picking up her phone. "Hello? Speaking."
she watched as Jax went into the bathroom, shutting the door. "I'm
sorry, can you repeat that, I was distracted...no, I didn't...wait a
minute! No...you released that information without...no, you listen."
Keesha took a deep breath. "What did you release...uh huh...okay I
will say this only once, if you *ever* give anyone access again, you
will pay...no, I want to make sure you understand...I don't *care* who
asks, and I don't care why, I don't care if the Pope himself is
standing there asking you for it..." her voice grew deeper. "In fact,
who was it you released this information to...someone for who?..." she
blinked, putting her head down. "What did I tell you...right...no
information to anyone...and that means ANYONE." she hung up, tossing
the phone on the bed.
Keesha looked over at the bathroom door, listening to the sounds of the
shower. After a second she walked over, opening the door. "I need to
say something to you!" she called.
"Okay." Jax turned off the water, and peaked through the curtain.
"What?"
Keesha took a breath. She was so *angry*...but she knew that Jax
didn't deserve that anger. "Your family has been digging into my past."
Jax looked at her for a moment and then stepped out of the shower,
wrapping a towel around his waist. "I heard." he said quietly. "I was
told that they weren't...but...however I think I put a block on
everything."
"Not everything. Someone working for your father was able...never mind
...that won't happen again...but I need for you to *really* get across
to them, do *not* go through my history. It's an invasion I won't
stand for."
"Geez..." Jax smiled, trying to lighten her mood. "It's almost as if
you have something to hide."
"Jax, I mean it." she finished and walked out of the bathroom, shutting
the door behind her.
Jax sat on the edge of the bed, dialing. He changed his mind and hung
up, dialing another number. "Hello?" a cheerful voice rang out.
"Mum...is Dad there?"
"Jax? What's wrong."
"Just need to speak to Pop. Is he there?"
Jax waited for a minute and then his father came on the line. "Jax, my
boy!"
"Stop digging into Keesha's past."
"Pardon?"
"You heard me. Stop."
"I..."
"Don't want to hear any excuses, don't want to hear any lies. Just
stop....I love you." Jax finished and hung up the phone.
"So then just ask V for a favor and you'll get the information..."
"Jerry, after all I put V through the last thing I'm going to do is ask
her to talk to Marcus. She will if she wants to, and if not that's too
damn bad for him."
Jerry nodded. "I'll work on it, then. So how's Philidelphia?"
"It's fine. We're about ready to head out for this surprise party...so
I should go...Keesha's giving me that look." he grinned.
Keesha smiled and shook her head, walking over and kissing Jax on the
cheek.
"Sure thing. But Jax?"
"Yes?"
"Pop really wasn't..."
"Jerry...stay out of it. It doesn't concern you." he hung up.
Jerry listened to the dial tone. Jax was right, it didn't concern him.
Except for now Jerry wanted to know why it was so important not to dig
into Keesha's past.
Perhaps he needed to dig to find out.
However right now he had another priority. Finding out why the police
department was investigating Jax for Sonny's death.
And figuring out how to keep him in the clear...no matter if he
did it
or not.
