Chapter 51

Jerry opened the door to his place. "Hey." he smiled at Keesha. "What's going on-it sounded important." "Are we alone?" "I hope so." he closed the door. "Have a seat and spill." She sat down and looked at him. "I don't know what's going on...and I don't want to know...but let's just say that Carly was gunning for you." Jerry came over and sat down next to her. "I think I diffused her for now. She seemed to rethink her focus while I was talking to her-and I've been pretty good at reading her before. But that's for now. So I would be careful." "Why were you speaking to Carly on my behalf." "Miranda came to me and told me that Carly came blaming you for the fire at Sonny's...I don't want to know." she interrupted him before he could respond. "Did you tell Jax?" "No. Not yet. He's been kind of occupied. But I'm going to tell him tonight. Unless you want to." Jerry shrugged. "Be my guest. And don't worry. I can handle Carly." "I've heard that before." "I'm not AJ." "No. But I've never seen anyone *handle* Carly-not even Jason. And Lord knows, enough people have tried." Jerry closed the door behind Keesha. He walked back over to his couch and picked up his phone, dialing. He smiled as he waited-he couldn't beleive that Miranda was looking out for him. "This is Jax." "Yes. I have news for you. Taggert came to see me. He wants in." "He can't have in." "I know, I told him that. He didn't seem that thrilled. I suggest you let V know he may want to be watched. Him and his friend." "Friend?" "Some guy named Peter." "Oh yeah. Marcus knows him from NY. He's staying with V and him right now. But why...never mind, thanks for the message." "Things going well?" Keesha came over, joining Jax on the couch. "I wish. But that would make my life to easy." he turned off the stock report, resting his head on her shoulder. "You said you wanted to tell me something." "Right...I've seen Miranda recently." she played with the back of his hair, hoping to keep him in a somewhat calm mood. "I know. I saw." "Oh. But you didn't ask." "I figured you'd tell me when you wanted to. So..." "She said she was worried about Jerry." "Jerry." "Yes. She said that Carly came accusing him of the fire at Sonny's place." again she waited for a response. When none came, she figured Carly had been right. "In any event, she wanted to know if you were..." "Excuse me?" Jax leaned up and stared at Keesha. "And what did you say?" "What do you think I said?" Jax took a deep breath and stood from the couch. "I would never ask him to do something like that, not anymore. I ruined his life enough with my plans." "I wish you would stop blaming yourself for everything under the sun. And don't tell me that you don't...because you do. For, sadly probably not the last time, this thing is not your fault." Jax looked at her again. "You, Jerry, and V are very well casualties of my stupid plan." "I'm exactly where I want to be. And I don't see Jerry complaining. And as for V...V has two relationships to deal with-most importantly hers and Marcus' and yes, also hers with you. But you never forced him to do anything and you surely didn't know he was Deke's partner, and if there's a way to leave him out of it now-you will. V knows that..." "What did you say to Miranda?" Jax changed the subject. Keesha sighed. One day he would get it, but for now she needed to let it go. "I told her even if you did something like that I wouldn't tell her about it. I figured that was all she deserved to know." "That's true." "But knowing Carly, I agreed to go and feel her out-see where her head was. And I did...basically I just reminded her of the fact that there had to be a reason that AJ didn't take custody of Michael away from her and she needed to be focusing on being thankful instead of whatever else she was doing. She seemed to have gotten the hint. And then today I went and visited Jerry and told him about Miranda, and Carly. We agreed that I would tell you today." she added, to make sure Jax didn't think Jerry was hiding anything from him. Jax nodded. "And Miranda?" "I'm supposed to see her tomorrow at Mac's house. Neither your nor Jerry are supposed to know of course." "Of course. So go." "Go?" "Go. We wouldn't want her to be suspicious." "Like you are." "Like I should be." Jax turned and looked at Keesha once more. He smiled at her and then grew serious once more. "But get in, and get out. Tell her things are handled or whatever, but don't try to figure anything else out when it comes to her. Or she will try to suck you in." The Next Day Keesha knocked, waiting. A second later Miranda opened the door. "Who else is here?" Keesha asked as she walked in. "Just Georgie. I'm babysitting. And she's napping. So." "So...I diffused her for awhile. And I told Jerry to be careful." "Did he admit to anything?" "Again, if he did, would I tell you? I only did this for Jerry. I didn't do this for you. But thanks for letting me know in any event. Maybe...." "Maybe I'm not the evil demon Jax has painted me out to be?" "Jax...you know...this conversation is probably about ready to take a bad turn. So why don't we drop it. Carly will leave Jerry alone..." for now. "So you can stop worrying, if that's what you were doing. And let it go...." Miranda's phone rang and Keesha quit speaking. "Thank you." Miranda stated, and waited. She watched Keesha leave and then answered. "Hello." "Hey." "Hi Jerry...what time are we meeting tonight?" "That's why I'm calling. I have to cancel. Bobbie called, and invited me over to dinner. You understand don't you." Miranda stood, her eyes flashing with anger. "Of course." she said sweetly. "Rain check?" "Wouldn't miss it. I'll see you around?" "Most definitely." she finished, hanging up. Well. Helena said the board was set, all she had to do was make her move. Miranda went over to Mac's phone and dialed. "Yes....Prisioner Michael Corinthos please....Miranda...." she turned on the tv as she waited. Around 3 minutes later Sonny picked up. "What." came the tired voice. His trail was less than a week away and his lawyer was sure that he'd serve major time. He was exhausted, trying to think of a way out of this mess-with no one to trust-knowing that Jason wasn't loyal. "I take it Helena's been by." Sonny perked up a little. Helena's henchman had said he might want to expect to hear from Miranda, but he had given up hope. "Someone for her." "So you know?" "Yes. But why should I trust her." "Because this is my baby. Not hers. I need you to do this, just the way she came up with. And then you can be out of there. And take Hannah with you. But though this is my idea-if you cross me, you will be dealing with Helena. Not to mention Jax. And Jerry. Taggert...." she sung "I get it." "Do we have a deal?" "Yes." "Sonny wants to see you." Mac stated into the phone, with Sonny's attorney standing guard. "Should I tell him to forget it." he stated as Keesha laughed. "Oh. You're serious? Why in the hell does he want to see me?" "He won't say. He just says it's important. You won't be alone of course, I mean, it will be right here at the jail." Criminal's rights his...who invented this system. Why should Sonny get to have confidential visitors like everyone else? He wasn't just another criminal.... Keesha sighed. "No..." then she thought. Just maybe she should. Jax wouldn't like it though. But if he was to blame for this, so was she...and she wanted to fix it-for him. What would be the harm? What could Sonny possibly do to her now. "wait..okay...whatever...fine. Okay. I'm on my way." Mac hung up. "Who else?" "V. Ardenowski." Shani
