Chapter 47

"You know..." Jax closed his eyes as Keesha leaned up in the bed, gathering him to her. "I think this is my favorite position..." he rested against her body and she wrapped her arms around his waist. "Well, for relaxation that is." "You are bad." Keesha giggled. "But I have to agree." She kissed the top of his head. "I enjoy being so close to you...though...forget it..." "What?" his eyes opened once more. "It's scary, sometimes. Feeling so close to you, like when I was in France....never mind, I assume Jerry told you..." "Never assume Jerry tells me anything." Jax forced himself to stay in position, wanting to turn and look at Keesha, yet somehow knowing that he might for once get more out of her if they weren't staring into each other's eyes. Keesha stroked Jax's stomach silently, mentally chastising herself for bringing it up in the first place. The whole idea was to protect herself from ever again feeling the pain she felt when she thought that they were divorcing-and bringing this situation up would do just the opposite-it would make her vulnerable to him all over again. "Luv?" Jax whispered for her to continue. Keesha closed her eyes. "When...when I was in Paris..." Keesha managed her way to her room. Her head was fuzzy, her feelings felt numb...it was a vast improvement from the sadness she was experiencing a mere 2 hours ago. She looked at the blinking light of her hotel room phone. Messages? From who? Who cared? She kicked her shoes off and collapsed on the bed. Sleep was just beginning to claim her *RING* And a second later the phone in her purse. *RING*. What... Sighing she sat up and picked up the phone next to the desk. "Yes?" "Didn't you get my message?." "Hold on Jerry, I have to pick up my other phone." "That's just me, from the house phone." he reached over and pressed the speaker button and her personal phone stopped. "Why in the world are you calling me on two phones? And how did you know I was here..." Keesha yawned. "Have you heard from Jax?" "No." she said simply. "Bye..." "I can't find him." "Check the courts Jerry...Bye..." "I *did*. He's not there. They said he showed up and then he left. And I haven't talked to him since I stalled him for you this morning." Keesha sat up in the bed, all of a sudden feeling completely sober. And totally frightened. "Oh my God..." "He's not answering his phones...I need for you to go back and find him. I'd do it myself...but I think I should stay put, in case he contacts." Jerry got up from his chair, running his hand through his hair. It was very unlike Jax not to call when he promised to do so... Keesha stood on the sidewalk of the hotel. She had gone to the courthouse, she went to all the restuarants she could think of, all the shops that Jerry told her of... "Where *are* you....?" she whispered. "Please, please be okay....HELLO?!" she answered her phone before the first ring even completed "He called.." "Thank God..." "He's in jail...for security violations..." "JAX?! You have to be kidding....what did he do?" Jerry was quiet for a moment. Then he said. "I think you should ask him that yourself. Can you get him out, I'll give you the money later..." "Don't insult me Jerry. I'm on my way...." Keesha couldn't keep her voice from breaking. "Keesha? " "Is he okay?" "He sounds aggravated, but fine." "What if something had happened...sorry, I'm going to get him." "Keesha...please don't cry..." And the moment he said it, it was exactly what she did. Jax sighed deeply. "I'm so sorry." "It was so strange...I mean, I was scared, but I was doing okay, because I knew I had to find you, and I had to be calm in order to do that. But the moment I found out you were alright, it was as if my heart just...I couldn't stop myself from crying. I bet Jerry thought I was a basket case..." she joked, trying to lighten the moment. "I doubt it...." "I love you so much Jax...and even though...being apart from you, thinking we were still going to be apart...I had covinced myself to accept that it was over, but it still didn't matter..." Jax sighed again as the phone rang. He was going to kill whoever that was. He waited as Keesha answered it. "...yes...one moment..." she pulled the receiver away. "It's Gabrielle." Jax reached out his hand, and took the phone. "Yes, Gaby...." Keesha pushed Jax slightly and he moved up-she got out of bed, picking her robe off the back of the chair. Keesha closed the bedroom door and headed downstairs. She went into the kitchen, starting the coffee, and then went out back, to sit on the porch. Talking about that day took so much out of her, she played with her ring...but it was the right thing to do. She knew that now. She turned at the sound of the low whistle. Slowly she got up and headed to the back gate. "Miranda?" "Where's Jax?" "In the house." "Carly came by." "Carly...Morgan?" "Yes, came by Jerry's house." "What for?" "To accuse him of the fire at Sonny's place." Miranda stated, waiting for a reaction. "And why are you telling me?" "Because I want to know if it's true. What am I supposed to do, ask Jax?" she chuckled. "Jerry's a lot closer to you than me." "Yes, and he's being very quiet. Which means he's probably protecting someone...and that means Jax. It's always been Jax. So, did Jax want Sonny's place burned?" "Let's say he did, you think I would answer that?" "You would if you thought of the long term ramifications. This puts Jerry in immediate danger...not to mention he's a likely target anyway, given he's Jax's brother, with everything Jax did..." Jax smelled the coffee brewing from the kitchen and walked inside. He leaned up against the counter as he waited, and noticed that Keesha was talking to someone outside. Slowly he walked over to the window. Miranda? Shani
