Chapter 35

"So...now that that's done, what do we do?" Keesha turned over in the bed and looked into Jax' s eyes at his question. "What do you mean?" "Well..." he couldn't help but smile. "We could get a divorce now." "Really?" "I mean, we only got married to get the information. And now we got it." "Right." Keesha got out of bed. "Where are you going?" "To pack...hey!" she finished with a giggle as Jax pulled her back down in the bed. "I don't think so." "Oh, you're such a tease." she mocked him before facing him once more, her eyes sparkling. "You know...." Jax said seriously. "We don't...we don't *have* to be married....for me to love you. I'm going to love you anyway. But you got married thinking that you'd be divorced once Sonny was behind bars. And while I won't just let you walk out of my life..." he managed a small smile. "If you want..." "What do you want?" "You just answered a question with a question. That's not allowed." Jax stopped looking at Keesha and laid down in the bed once more. "And you're not allowed to put such a decision on my shoulders." "I'm not..." "Jax. I love you. And I am very happy now. But I would be happy loving you if we were divorced too. If we're going to...seperate..." Keesha finished with a whisper. She tried again. "If we're going to divorce, then that's up to both of us...it's not just up to me...." she groaned as the phone rang. If it wasn't for that damn midterm tomorrow...."Hello...yes..." Jax looked over at Keesha as she leaned up against the headboard, talking to some student. "The Grill at 2?" he mouthed. She nodded affirmatively and Jax got up from the bed. Carly rolled down the window. "What?" "Michael is asking for you...aren't you coming in?" AJ bent down and looked into Carly's car. "No, I'm not coming in. Why do you care anyway?" "I'm sorry..." "No, you're not. This is exactly what you want....but you will *never* get full custody of Michael you hear me!" Carly's nostrils flared as she glared at AJ. Then suddenly, she blinked, and then a flash of light went through the dark eyes. "What?" "Nothing." Carly rolled up the window. She watched as AJ went back to the main house. AJ. It had to be AJ. "Jason's your son..." Bobbie began. "I know. But so is AJ. And Michael's my grandson. If Jason is involved with everything...maybe..." "Do you know that people are speculating Jason double crossed Sonny? Do you know what that's going to mean?" Monica stood up from the sofa. "What do you want?" "I just need for you to keep your ears open. We need to find out where this information came from. Because if we know where, then we know how truthful it is. Carly insists that Jason...." "I don't beleive anything Carly has to say Bobbie." Bobbie stood. "Carly loves Jason. She always has." "Carly loves Carly." "I don't even know why I bothered...." Bobbie stormed out, passing AJ in the hall. AJ watched her go and then walked into the living room. "Mom? What's wrong?" "Don't worry about me." "Come on...you can tell me. What's wrong?" "Jerry...please..." Jerry closed his eyes at the sound of Miranda's shaken voice. "You're really good." "I'm *sorry*..." Miranda wiped away her tears. He had to forgive her...he *had* to. "Jerry...." *Click* "Jerry!....Jerry!" Jerry looked at the phone after he hung up. He took a deep breath as his mind continued to race. Had to. That was her only excuse for virtually breaking his heart. That she had to. Jerry walked over to the door, opening it before Carly and Bobbie got there. "What is he doing here?" Carly pushed her way past. "I thought you had your own place..." "Hello Carly." Jerry took the packages from Bobbie. "Tony agreed happily to keeping Lucas for another night." "Thank you." Bobbie watched as her daughter headed upstairs. "I don't know what to do Jerry." "Nothing. You can't afford to get involved." "How can I not be involved. Carly loves Jason with all of her heart. And now..." she shook her head. She knew how Jerry felt about Jason and Sonny...."Jerry?" she glanced up at him. Jerry stared into Bobbie's eyes, knowing exactly what she was asking. "Yes?" Bobbie contiuned studying Jerry. But it was impossible. She couldn't tell if he was involved or not. "If there was something...important, you wouldn't keep it from me....right?" "Meaning?" he stalled as he tried to think of way to lie without really lying. "Nothing." Bobbie dropped the subject. Why was she so suspicious. "I'm going to see how she's doing. She hasn't eaten hardly anything for 4 days now." Jerry nodded and then watched as Bobbie ascended the stairs. He felt a small pang of guilt...but this was to keep things safe for Jax. And therefore, a little guilt was something he'd just have to live with. He had gotten married to get Sonny. That was all. He was supposed to get married, and then let Keesha go. But Jax learned real early that simply letting Keesha go would be impossible. So inside his mind, he planned another stragey. Somehow, after all of it was done, he was going to convince her to stay in Port Charles.... He had already came up with a position for her at J&J Jacks. He also had left the PCU catalouge just lying around the house..figuring that it might catch her attention. There was no way that Jax was just going to let Keesha move back to wherever and leave him behind. And that was before he had even fallen in love with her. *Now*...she had to stay. Married. In their home. How could he tell her, point blank, that he wanted to stay married to her. That he needed to have her as his wife. It was selfish. Plain and simple. They could divorce, convince people they had just gotten involved to soon...and then start *dating* again. He loved her. She loved him. They could be together and not be married. But that's not what he wanted. Jax sighed. But this wasn't about what he wanted. He had to be fair about this. "Meeting someone?" Jax looked up. "Actually, yes AJ. What do you want?" "Real simple obvservation. Bobbie is asking around about Jason and Sonny. I assume Carly put her up to it." "And that concerns me?" "I don't know...but if it does...you have to know that Sonny and Jason, not to mention Moreno aren't going to go after you-they're going those closest...your family..." "AJ what do you want?" AJ took a peice of bread. "...Jerry..." "AJ..." "Keesha." AJ looked up at Jax, knowing he had struck a nerve. "So if you're involved, do her a favor and cut her lose now. Because Carly will find out...trust me she's very resourceful." AJ pushed back his chair. "Let's say I was involved. What would you want me to do?" "Leave Keesha." Jax laughed. "I would never just leave Keesha. I'm not you." he finished, his voice deepening. "This isn't about me. It's not about you." AJ managed to hold his ground. "This is about Keesha. And if Sonny and Moreno and Jason come gunning for you, if you loved her you would want her out of the way." "And if she didn't want to go?" AJ shrugged. "My mistake....you must not be involved in the matter." he said honestly as he got up from the table. "And where did this revelation come from?" "Because if you loved Keesha...and I admit that you likely do...then you would do what was best for her...whether she wanted it or not." AJ's words shocked Jax, and for once, he couldn't think of a reply. AJ was right...if Carly found out... How would Carly find out? hE shook the thought out of his head after AJ left. "Yes." Jax answered his phone. He looked at his watch. Keesha should be here soon. "It's me." "Hey, Jer. How are you?" "Worried. Bobbie almost asked me if I was involved with...what happened." "You weren't. Not technically." "That will fly over real well with Bobbie...*I would have told you but technically I wasn't involved* " "So then tell her." "Are you insane? So she can tell Carly? Which she will....and then what happens to you." "Nothing..." "Jax...we're talking Corinthos, Morgan, AND Moreno. All 3 of them behind bars because of you and Keesha. If that came out..." "It would mean trouble." Jax mumbled to himself. "I've got to go." he hung up the phone, taking another sigh. He hadn't thought this through. Or rather, something happened that he didn't expect. He got to know Keesha. And like Keesha. And want Keesha. He had fallen in love with Keesha. And all of his original plans of marrying her, getting Sonny, and then letting her go had flown out the window. He had been selfish. He hadn't stuck with his original plan. And so now... Jax gave Keesha's lips a small peck. He watched as she sat down across from him. Now he had to let her go. Shani
