Chapter 34

"Just leave it..." Jax mumbled against the back of Keesha's neck, kissing it lightly as he wrapped his arms around her. "I can't...the undergraduate midterm is in one week, and I have to stay available for the students." she managed to reach over and grab the phone from it's craddle. "Hello?" "Keesha, this is Alexis Davis." "Hi Alexis." Jax looked up. Keesha pulled the phone slightly away from her ear, and Jax bent down so he could hear. "Are you looking for Jax?" Keesha contiuned. "No, actually, I'm looking for you. I have something here for you, from Justus." "From Justus?" "Yes...I don't want to explain it over the phone. Can you meet me tomorrow, in my office?" "Sure...what about..." Keesha glanced over at Jax and he held up 2 fingers. "..two?" "Two is fine. I'll see you then." Alexis hung up the phone. After a second Keesha placed the receiver back, taking a deep breath. It was starting. What they had been waiting for these past 3 months was finally starting. Keesha closed her eyes, resting her hands on top of Jax's as he held her tighter, his chin on top of her head. Jax continued pacing the docks...waiting. He hated waiting. "Jax." Jax looked up. "AJ." AJ came down the stairs, sitting on the bench. "The ELQ meeting is over I presume?" "Yes, Keesha had to leave early." AJ looked out at the water. "Said she had an appointment, and after she left, the bickering got worse. So Grandmother just called it a day....you know what happened to Keesha, don't you?" Jax turned and looked at AJ as the subject changed. "What are you talking about?" "At Luke's. You do know who was behind it...don't you?" "Why? Do you?" "Right." AJ laughed. "I would know somthing like that." he said sarcastically. "Since it happened, I rarely saw Keesha alone. Now she's wandering around town by herself, I figure she must feel safe. And if she feels safe, that means you know who it was." "Again, why? Why are you asking?" AJ shrugged. "No reason..." he turned as he heard footsteps start slowly down the stairs. Jax sighed. "She's fine AJ." AJ looked back at Jax, and then without answering he turned his attention back to the stairs. "Hey!" he exclaimed as Michael finally got to the bottom of the stairs, Carly and Jason trailing behind him. "AJ!" AJ tried not to wince. Michael never did call him *dad*. "This is Jax." Jax answered his phone. He walked over to the other end of the docks. "All I can say is that he had connections all over the place." Keesha replaced the papers in the file Alexis had given her. "People were connected that you probably would never had dreamed of...can you meet me at the Grill?" "I'm on my way...Keesha?" "Yes?" "Watch yourself, alright?" "I love you." Keesha stated with a smile to herself, hanging up. She left the building, heading for her car. Keesha watched as Jax continued going through the files. A name caught his attention. Benjamin Harper. Just like Taggert had said. He had worked for both Sonny AND Moreno...doing everything from running drugs for Moreno...to setting up illegal gambling rackets for Sonny...in America, and Austraila. All of it was in Jax's hands...there in black and white...financial records, translated by Justus from their short secret codes...input and output data... "Keep looking, Jax..." "What?" "Keep looking...do you see the pictures..." Jax shuffled through some papers. Sonny and Luke, Jason and Luke..., for Bobbie's sake, Jax and Keesha would keep these pictures to themselves. Jason and Moreno...exchanging envelopes...no body guards in sight? Jax looked up at Keesha and then back down...10 more pictures of Jason and Moreno..."Wait...Jason was working with Moreno..." "Jason is the least of your worries." Jax went through some more photos..."Lucky?" "Lucky, Miranda, and..." "Benjamin Harper." Jax tossed the papers, face down on the table. "I knew it. Damn her...I knew it..." Sonny paced the length of the park bench. "What is it?" "I don't know." "Do you know who has this information?" "No. I just know that someone had something and turned it into Mac and Dara...and you're in deep trouble." Miranda looked up at him. "Why are you telling me this now?" "Because I heard Mac talking about it..." "No, I mean what are you getting out of trying to help me." "I'm not trying to help you, I'm trying to warn you...if it wasn't for you...I would still be under Jax's spell...you saved me from that Sonny. You helped me to see what kind of person he was." Miranda tried not to choke on the lie. She just had to get this done, and Helena would be happy...for now. Sonny nodded. If only Brenda had been so smart. "I owe you." Miranda stood, looking over at the giant tree across the grass. "I don't think you have time to owe me, Sonny....I don't think you have the time at all." Miranda left. Sonny watched her go, and then turned to look. Leaning over against that tree, was Alex Garcia, smiling. Slowly he sauntered over. "Oh Sonny boy..." he coined Taggert's favorite phrase. Carly looked on in tears as Taggert handcuffed Jason. "What's the charge?!" "Everything Mrs. Morgan. Absolutely everything. Just you *wait* until Sonny finds out you've been double crossing him Errand Boy. Isn't that what got Justus killed?" Carly took a deep breath. "Jason..." she meant to exclaim, but because of her fear, the sound was barely audible. "Find out who Carly...." Jason stated quietly as Taggert led him out the door. "JASON!" Carly wailed, running after him. "FIND OUT CARLY!" Jerry glanced through the photos. "I don't beleive this..." he mumbled. "She *knew* him? And she didn't tell me?" he turned around and smiled bitterly. "Go on...let me hear it..." "I wish I was wrong Jer." Jax stated softly. He knew he wouldn't be, but looking at the pain Jerry was trying to hide from showing in his eyes... Jax wished that he had been wrong about Miranda. Right now, there was nothing that he wished for more. Shani
