Chapter 32

Alexis put the file she was working on next to her on the couch. Pushing up her eye glasses she walked over to the front door and opened it. "What?" "My my. You seem to forget that Stefan no longer takes care of you Natasha." Helena invited herself in. "So, I hear you are getting married soon. I suppose my invite got lost in the mail?" "Sure." Alexis closed the door. "Why don't I stuff you the mailbox and you can wait for it there." "And you wonder why you were always scorned by the Cassadines-which my dear, you will never be." "What do you want Helena." Her comment had taken some wind out of Alexis' sails. No matter what she told Ned, or Jax, or Jerry, or anyone else that would listen, including herself, she would give almost anything to take everything back...and to have her brother and nephew back again. They were the only Cassadines that mattered. "To warn you." "This ought to be good." "I realize you have information on Michael Corinthos. Something that belongs to Keesha Jacks. I suggest you keep it to yourself." "What are you talking about and..." "Do not play stupid with me." "Okay...why should I care about your suggestions?" "Do not worry about it. Just do as I tell you." Alexis placed an edge of her glasses into her mouth. "Hmmm...that must mean that you *want* me to give the information to Keesha. Because we all know I never do as you tell me." Helena simply continued to stare at Alexis. Then again. Alexis thought to herself. Helena realized that is exactly what she would say. "Are you through, I need to call the exterminator before they close." Helena's eyes grew dark. "One of these days Natasha..." "Yes...I know. " Alexis went over to the door and opened it. She waited until she left and closed the door. She leaned up against it with a deep sigh. Eventually Keesha would have to get that file. Because if Jax didn't know about it already...he would. And if she kept it from them, her entire career would go up in smoke. Was wondering what Helena wanted-something that for once didn't seem to involve Alexis or Stefan or Nikolas-worth risking her career over? "Keesha? Why are you calling?" "Actually, I was looking for Katherine. Jerry said that she was staying there with you until he got back." "Oh. Well, she's not here. I think she's out with Nikolas. Who knows when she'll be back." "So you're there alone?...are you doing okay?" Jax walked downstairs, holding both his and Keesha's jackets in his arms. He waited at the bottom of the stairs, listening. "Um yes, actually. Thanks for asking." Miranda stated slowly. If she were Keesha, Miranda would have cared less. And Brenda...Brenda probably would have put a hit on Miranda herself, Miranda smirked. But Keesha... She had to hand it to Jax. All of the women in his life were extremely different. It made him hard to figure out. But she had to figure him out...because Jerry just wasn't budging. He needed a push by Jax first. "Sure." Keesha stated simply. Speaking of hard to figure. "Maybe..." "I have to go..." "You know, just because Jax hates me doesn't mean you should to. Shouldn't you wait until I give you a reason?" Keesha was quiet. Then she said, again simply. "That's a strong emotion you know. It's hard for me to get there. Then again...once I am there, there's no turning back. I hope you remember that." "Meaning?" "I'm sure you know. Goodbye." Keesha hung up. Miranda listened to the dial tone. How did Jax wind up surrounding himself with such damn protective people? "Who was that?" "Miranda. Ready?" Keesha walked over and took her jacket from Jax. Jax stared into her eyes. He wanted to again remind Keesha that Miranda wasn't a person to care about...and surely not a person to trust. "I know what you're thinking. I called for Katherine honestly. But I just asked if she was okay." "Is she?" "She says so. Now are you ready?" "I need for you to really listen to me, Keesha. Miranda isn't...." "I know. Don't trust Miranda. I already have my guard up okay? But she was there alone, and in case Helena is threatening her, she could have been scared. I just asked if she was okay." She went to the door. "Coming?" Jax put on his jacket and followed, closing the door behind them silently. Shani
