Chapter 27

Jax kissed Keesha on the cheek and eased out of the bed. He walked
into the bathroom and a few moments later, the shower came on. Keesha
got up from the bed, resisting the urge to allow the sound of the
running water from Jax's shower lull her back to sleep. She glanced at
the clock. He had seemed stressed last evening, and that meant his
morning shower would be longer than normal...that was a fact she
learned early. Stress equaled late nights working, and long early
morning showers.
Jax leaned his head to each side, cracking his neck, trying to alleive
some of the tension He closed his eyes and felt the water drift down
his back, offering him some comfort.
He had so much on his mind, it was hard to keep track of what he was
doing anymore.
There was Jerry, and Miranda. Helena. Sonny. The hostage situation
at Luke's...plus the added day to day J&J Jacks work.
But he would handle it.
He always did.
Keesha turned off the shower in the other room, grabbing her towel and
drying off quickly. She went back into the bedroom-Jax was still in
his shower.
She finished getting ready quickly, and as she sat on the edge of the
bed, slipping on her last heel, she heard the water turn off.
She took her jacket from the closet and walked over to the bathroom
door.
"Yes!" Jax answered her gentle knock.
"I'm going...."
Jax opened the door. "How'd you get ready so fast?"
Keesha watched as Jax walked past her, running a towel through his
hair. "You were actually in there for quite a while." she came over
and joined him at the dresser. "I love you."
Jax smiled and turned to face her. "I love you too. Have a nice day."
Keesha gave Jax a quick kiss and then left. He heard the front door
close and turned to the front of the dresser once more, immediatly
focused on his work once again.
Keesha stood in the parking lot of Luke's, staring at the entrance.
Taking a deep breath, she walked into the club, heading straight to the
back.
"Come in!" Keesha opened the door to the office. "Keesha!" Felicia
Scorpio got up from the table. "So you finally decide to give me a
visit?" she laughed as she hugged her. "How's Jax?"
"Busy. I went to the Outback, and your hostess said I might find you
here. Trying for yet another gig?" she smiled and sat down, looking
around the office. "How many jobs do you have now?"
"Very funny. Actually, I'm just watching the place for Luke, he took
Lucky away for vacation."
"Really? Elizabeth didn't mention that."
Felicia sat back down in Luke's chair. "I just got the call this
morning. They shoud be back soon."
Convienant. Information about Lucky and Miranda starts coming out, and
all of a sudden Lucky decides to go away with Luke...and leaving
Elizabeth behind?
At least that meant he'd be back.
"I thought Sonny handled things while Luke was away."
"Not this time. Make yourself at home, I'm going to tell everyone I'm
leaving and then I'll treat you to lunch, how does that sound."
"Sounds fantastic, as long as I can return the favor." Keesha answered
and Felicia went out the door.
Keesha took her phone out of her purse and dialed quickly. "Where?"
"Underneath Luke's desk, under that red rug..."
Keesha got down on her hands and knees, and lifted up the edge of the
rug. "Eeeww..." she pushed away some old cigar butts, and then lifted
the rug further away. "Nothing."
"What do you mean nothing?" Jerry got up from the couch.
"I mean nothing. There's nothing here...just a...wait....maybe it was
sealed. Tell me again, why don't you send someone who knows what to
look for?"
"Because you are the only person they figure wouldn't know what to look
for." Jerry walked up the stairs in his townhouse. He opened the door
to the guest room slowly. Miranda was still napping. "And you're the
only one of us who could possibly get access to Luke's office without
it being suspicious...Keesha?"
"There's some sort of line here...and the wood changes graining at this
point, it's almost as if one part is new and the other is old."
Jerry nodded. "Luke had it sealed. That means he knows something...."
"Bye." Keesha said quickly before hanging up on Jerry. She tossed a
lipstick on the floor.
"Um...Keesha..." Felicia closed the door. "What..."
"Oh...hi. I dropped something." Keesha came from underneath the desk.
"Mae used to always say that you'd lose your head if it wasn't
attached. Come on. Let's go."
Jerry hung up his phone. Felicia and Luke were very close, he reasoned
as he headed back down the stairs. And getting information out of her
could prove to be much easier than getting it out of Luke.
And he could always play the Mac card.
Jerry started to dial but changed his mind.
He needed to do this part in person anyway.
Jax looked up as Jerry walked into the house. "Damn it Jerry, you
can't do that."
"I know, I know, you hated it when you were a kid, you hate it more
now...blah blah..."
"I'm also *married* now. You could have walked in on something no one
wants you wallking in on..."
"Don't go all modest on me now." Jerry laughed. "Besides, your lovely
wife isn't at home. Here...I already tipped the carrier. Your weekly
cheese fix I presume." he tossed the package.
Jax caught it. "What makes you so sure?"
"Well, it has the name of the shop right on the paper..."
"About Keesha, Jerry."
"Because...I sent her on an errand." Jerry waited.
"What *kind* of an errand?"
"Hey, I think I should get major brownie points for coming here and
telling you myself, before she mentioned it when she got
home...assuming of course she would mention it...."
"What *kind* of errand, Jericho."
Jerry turned his nose up at the sound of his full name. "Next time,
just punch me..."
" *Jerry*!"
"Okay...I sent her to Luke's...to see if he had sealed up that secret
entrance....which he had by the way, which means that once again we
were right, and Luke knows something ..."
"You sent Keesha *back* to Luke's! What were you thinking?!"
"Jax calm down...you seem much more bothered than she did. She was the
logical choice...no one would think that she knew what to look for,
she's the only person we know who could easily get in and out of the
office without arousing suspicion-well, aside from Bobbie, and that
would have been plain stupid, wouldn't it? *Luv, go spy on your dear
old brother for me...* Like I said, it was logical. You always
said...."
Jax held up his hand. He had heard enough. "Logical yes...but I don't
care! It was the dumbest....most insensitive...idiotic...careless..."
"Jax, you're letting your emotions cloud your judgment..."
"No, I'm letting *love* cloud my judgment! What if it were Bobbie?!
What then?"
Jerry waited. He figured Jax wasn't going to take it well.
"And speaking of judgment...the only reason you even toyed with such an
idea, was because of your worry about your *pal*."
"Leave Miranda out of this."
"Why should I? She's behind everything you do as of late."
"I have to pick up Lucas from school. Call me when you're ready to
listen to me..."
"Where's Luke now?" Jax relented.
"On vacation. He left a message with Bobbie this morning. He took
Lucky somewhere. Both of their cars are still in town."
Jerry watched as Jax picked up his phone. "Don't pull a stunt like
this again, Jerry. I mean it." Jax stated as he dialed. "If you
wouldn't want Bobbie doing it, I don't want Keesha doing it. And if
she is going to do something, we...me and her, are going to discuss it
between us."
"Agreed." Jerry walked out the door.
"...yes..." he said into the phone as his call was finally connected.
"This is Jax. I need to know about all the flights out of Port Charles
in the past 24 hours...".
