Chapter 26

Jax pulled up to the front of Port Charles University. "Thank you." Keesha reached over and kissed him gently. "When will you be done?" "I don't know. I really do need to spend time at the library. I'll just take a cab or something." Jax leaned over and kissed her again. "Stop trying to influence me." she mumbled. He smiled and kissed her once more. "7:00." she relented. "Okay." Jax grinned as he reached across her to open the door. "When I flunk, it will be all your fault." Keesha said as she got out of his BMW. She leaned down and looked at him through the open window. "Don't blame *me* for your lack of concentration." he laughed. "I love you." "I love you." Keesha leaned up and Jax watched as she walked through the gated entrance. Fun time was over....for now. Now he had work to do. Jax walked into the Port Charles Police Department. Holding the gate open for an obvious prostitute, he waited until she passed and then went over to Taggert's desk. "You have a way with the ladies." Taggert joked without looking up from his report. "I beleive every woman should be treated with the upmost curteousy-until she gives me a personal reason not to. That woman has done nothing to me." "What about *for* you..." he laughed at his own joke as Jax sat down in the chair. "What have you got for me?" "Excuse me?" Taggert finally put his report away and looked at Jax. "The hostage situation, do you have any leads." Taggert leaned over his desk. "I don't know. Do you have any?" "I asked you first." Jax and Taggert stared at each other, each waiting for the other to give in, and tell what he knew. Each knowing the chances were slim. "We've stalled." Taggert finally answered. "Does Moreno have any ties to Austraila?" "Austraila? How I am suppose to know...and why do you ask?" "Curiosity." "Officially, no." "Well, unofficially, don't you beleive it's possible..." Jax leaned forward and began to whisper "or should I say, guaranteed, that this is Moreno, going after Corinthos. Pushing him." Jax had to keep from smiling as Taggert's eyes grew even darker. Obviously, Jax just confirmed what Taggert already beleived. "What do you know?" "I know it had nothing to do with me, and it had nothing to do with Jerry...." "Or so you think..." "I would bet my life on it." Jax assured him as he sat straight in his chair once more. "Some people have said that you...aren't very clear...when it comes to your brother...however, I beleive your theory is somewhat...possible." "And?" "Okay, Jax, this is what we will do. I will tell the commisioner...." "Leave Mac out of it." "Why?" "Because he will tell you the same thing he always does. That you have to stay out of it without further proof. Aren't you tired of watching Sonny and Moreno continue to make our lives hell, while they have their on going pissing contest?" "Then what do you expect me to do?" "Don't you have vacation time coming?" "Why don't *you* go and check." "Because you, as an officer of the law, can get further places in this case than I can. I am sure Sonny is already conducting his underground information. And there are certain places he can't check, because that will put you on alert. Besides, you would have a better idea of what to look for than anyone else I know. You've been studying Sonny, Moreno, and their methods for even longer than I have." "With nothing new, we have to close the case." Dara stated as she and Mac walked through the police station. Mac held open the gate for her. "Besides....Mac..." "Oh, I'm sorry." Mac watched as Jax got up from Taggert's desk. Jax walked over, with a smile and a nod, and left the station. "What does he want?" "His wife was a recent hostage. What do you think he wanted." "Let me rephrase that. What did he *get*." Dara looked at Mac and shook her head. "You have more important things to deal with than what Jax is doing, don't you?" she walked away. Mac turned his attention to Taggert. He went over and stood behind him. "What did Jax want?" "To see where we were." Taggert stated simply as he picked up the last unfinished report on his desk. "And you told him?" "That we were stalled. He wasn't too happy about that, but he didn't seem surprised." "Did he have any new information to share?" "No." Taggert stated, not missing a beat. "Sir, last week I left my intended vacation scheduale with you. Do you have any idea when I'll be getting that approved?" He stood and started over to the coffee maker. "By the end of this week, okay? Marcus?" Taggert turned around. "Don't let Jax get you into trouble." "Jax could never make me do anything. Sir." That seemed to satisfy Mac. Without another word, he left. Taggert poured his coffee, and went back to his desk, dialing his phone. "L&B Records, Ardenowski speaking." "Ardenowski." Taggert smiled. "How does 2 weeks in Austraila sound?" "I got it! Thanks Keesha, thanks a lot." Liz got up from the chair and ran out. "Oops...sorry Jax." "It's okay." Jax laughed and watched as Liz hurried down the hall. "I think she beleives she'll forget everything if she doesn't study what I told her right away. With what do I owe the pleasure?" "I just needed to see you." he closed and locked the door. Keesha raised her eyebrow. He wouldn't.... "Honey...this isn't my office. All the psychology graduate students share this office." Jax shrugged as he came closer. "That's a *no*." He stopped. "No?" "Or a...not here." a wicked smile grew across her face. "Of course..." she stood from the desk and walked over to the supply closet in the corner. "In here is another story..." "One day..." Jax came over quickly and Keesha laughed as he backed her into the closet. "You're going to have to tell me what the difference is." "I can tell you that now. I meant *no*. But I think I just realized I can't say no to you...this is my compromise, so I don't feel like I've completely given in..." Keesha pulled the door closed. "Giving in is a good thing." Jax whispered and they kissed passionately. Jax whistled carefreely as he headed back to his car. "Why are you in such a good mood." Just like that the mood passed. He turned and glared at Sonny without responding. "Did you make Keesha late for her class?" Sonny pulled Keesha's scheduale out of his pocket. "Couldn't wait until 6:00 to see her..." "Where in the hell did you get that?" "Of course, after class, she normally goes to the library for awhile, and then to the gym..." Jax reached out and yanked on Sonny's collar, turning him and pushing him into the car. "I repeat..." Sonny held up his hand for his bodyguard. The worker stopped coming towards them. "Tell your enemies they had better leave Hannah alone...or else Keesha will pay the price." " *My*..." "Yours, Jerry's whatever...if something like what happened at Luke's happens again, I may just snap." he grinned as Jax's eyes grew colder. "If you or any disgusting extenstion of you come within 1000 feet of my wife, I will kill you." Jax's words sent a chill through Sonny's body as he realized, for the first time, just how serious Jax was about Keesha. But, always on the look out for ways to destroy Jax, he made a mental note of it. Keesha was obviously one of Jax's weaknesses. That was defintely useful information. Jax let Sonny go, and Sonny moved past him without another word. Shani
