Chance Encounters: Chapter 3
The thing about Jonathan, Keesha remebered as she
stood in the dark alleyway, looking at his car across
the street-once he checked one place, he turned over
every stone-or so he thought. If she could stay out
of his sight long enough for him to leave, she would
not see him here again. He would have moved on.
And after what seemed to her to be an eternity, he
did. Keesha watched as Jontahan got into his car,
pulling off. He was gone. She was safe in this town.
For now.
Now she could think about more pressing matters.
For instance, what to do about Jax.
Jax would be a harder person to shake than Jonathan.
For whatever reason, Jax wasn't going anywhere. She
knew that....
And realizing that brought a smile to her face,
despite it all.
Jax was the most intruging guy she had ever met, she
could tell that already, even though she barely knew
him.
And despite her lack of knowlegde about Jax, she felt
safe with him-and she had never felt safe with anyone.
And now all she wanted to do, was get to know this
guy...really know him.
And if she wasn't in so much trouble....
But she was. So he had to go.
Perhaps he was an extreme example of a guy who lived
for the chace.
So maybe, just maybe, she should let herself be
caught.
And it would be easier for him to let go.
Jax turned out the light, climbing into the bed. He
stared up at the ceiling, his mind racing.
How did that happen?
How could he find the right woman, in what was so
obviously the wrong time.
Jax sighed. Keesha was right. They needed to part
ways now. Should be simple enough, he barely knew
her.
So why was he having such a hard time.
Why couldn't he just let go of a woman he barely knew.
"Forget it." Jax mumbled to himself, grabbing his
shirt and putting it on.
Jax got to the sidewalk, looking both ways as he
thought.
Keesha could be anywhere by now.
Of course, if she was smart, she wouldn't have gone
far. Jonathan had already looked for her here, it
would be wiser for her to stay.
Of course, hardly anyone thought the way he did.
Maybe this was hopeless.
Jax ran across the street.
Jacks motto- Determination beat out hopelessness every
time.
Jax turned into the alleyway, walking, thinking.
"You know..."
Jax tensed...
Keesha stood behind him, pressing herself up against
his back as she whispered slowly into his ear "...I
thought we agreed you'd stay away from me."
And his heart melted. He turned around, finding her
brilliant smile waiting.
"Well, I would say you can't stay away from me
actually." he teased.
"What are you doing out here?"
"Going for a walk."
"So, you're not looking for me?"
Jax stared at Keesha for a moment. "Just going for a
walk...looking for you." he admitted.
"See. I knew it." Keesha grinned. She stepped back.
But Jax grabbed hold of her waist, pulling her even
further into his body.
Keesha tilted her head, her eyes shining.
"Aren't you going to do that *warning* thing again?"
he asked.
In answer, Keesha held onto his waist, standing
tip-toe. Jax bent slightly, until they were eye to
eye.
"Will you listen?" she asked.
Keesha swallowed as Jax bent even closer; her heart
raced as his lips touched hers. Against them he
mumbled, "No."
"Then let's go." she replied, her warm breath sending
tingles across his mouth.
Jax blinked, somewhat shocked. He pulled away. "Go?"
"Jonathan is gone, he won't be back. We have a hotel
room..." Keesha drew his hands from her body, stepping
back even further. "Let's go."
Jax arched his eyebrow as he thought
Keesha was up to something....
But at this point, Jax didn't even care.
"Lead the way," he smiled.
Jax held the door open and Keesha walked inside of the
hotel room. She took a deep breath. "So..."
Jax slammed the door shut, and Keesha whirled around,
facing him.
Jax reached out with one arm, yanking Keesha towards
him.
Their eyes locked and as they stared at each other,
one thought fluttered through Keesha's mind.
She couldn't do this.
There would be no way she could sleep with this man
and then let him go.
Keesha broke eye contact, "Jax..."
Jax touched her chin, tilting her face up until their
eyes were meeting once more. His fingers trailed up,
his hand brushing lightly against her cheek.
Keesha closed her eyes, instinctively resting her face
against his palm. Jax realized he had stopped
breathing, and he let go, his low exhale breaking the
silence of the room. Completely transfixed by her, he
watched Keesha intently, his thumb tracing the
fullness of her lips. Her mouth parted slightly, a
small sigh escaping.
The soft sound touched him, making his body react with
an intensity it never had before.
Jax bent, burying his face against her throat, closing
his eyes as he inhaled the scent of her. Keesha
wrapped her arms around him, squeezing his waist
gently.
Jax pulled away, and Keesha opened her eyes, looking
down at him. He stood straight once more, and she
barely noticed as he lifted her from the ground. He
smiled as he glid her body across his, and her eyes
sparkelled warmly; she wrapped her legs around his
waist.
Jax carried Keesha over to the bed, laying her down
gently. She gazed up as he rested both arms on either
side of her, leaning down so he was hovering just
above her.
Slowly Jax lowered himself, and Keesha sank further
into the mattress underneath his weight.
Keesha wrapped her arms around Jax, her hands resting
against his shoulders.
Finally, Jax brushed his lips across hers. Her eyes
fluttered shut, and her mouth opened. With a soft
moan, he slid his tongue inside. Keesha arched
slightly against him, her body surrendering itself to
him instantly as she returned his kiss deeply. Keesha
ran her fingers through his hair, holding him close to
her as his tongue stroked and teased against hers,
tasting her fully. Never before had she felt lips so
soft, so perfect...
Keesha kissed Jax with such urgency, he lost complete
control of his senses. He pulled away...
"Keesha..." he breathed, bending to kiss her again.
Keesha's eyes flew open at his whispered call.
And she pushed him away.
Jax watched, stunned as she sat upright. "I'm
sorry..." she mumbled getting out of the bed. "This
was a bad idea...I'm sorry..." she repeated.
The thought went through her once more. She looked at
Jax and then had to look away.
"I'm sorry..." she repeated, backing towards the door,
her heart and mind racing...
There would be no way she could sleep with Jax and
then let him go...
Jax watched as Keesha edged for the door. She turned,
walking quickly
No way...
Finally able to gather his thoughts, Jax jumped up
from the bed, running to the door, shutting it just as
she got it open.
"You might as well have a seat, because there is no
way you're walking out on me now..."
Keesha turned, looking at Jax.
His frustration grew. "It was fun at first, but now
it's just downright aggravating! You found me this
time, not the other way around...and then you have the
nerve to try and leave again! But it's not going to
happen...am I clear on this?"
Keesha cupped Jax's face into her hands, pulling him
to her. She kissed him passionately, and then just as
quickly, she let go.
Jax watched, utterly confused now as Keesha went over
to the chair, sitting down. "I'm just doing as you
said." Keesha looked over at him. She reached over,
grabbing a cover from the bed. "Good night."
Jax opened his mouth, but he shut it quickly,
realizing there was nothing to say. He placed the
chain on the door.
Jax walked over to Keesha and she looked up as he
stood right in front of her.
In one quick movement he lifted her from the chair,
resting her on the bed. He took the cover from the
floor, sitting down in the vacant chair. "Good
night." he answered.
Keesha watched Jax for a moment, but slowly, she slid
down in the bed. "Jax?"
"What?" he answered, his eyes closing.
"I've changed my mind, I'm not sorry."
Jax opened his eyes again; he tilted his head looking
at her.
"You're...not the guy that I would be satisified with
having only one night with. As...glorious as it
probably would have been..." she smiled. Then it
faded, and she finished seriously. "And I'm not sorry
that I realized that."
Once again, Jax was stunned - completely speechless.
Keesha winked at him, and then she turned around,
closing her eyes to sleep.
