Between You & Me: 11

"Jerry, who's at..." John stopped behind Jerry. "Jewel." He said simply.

"Hello John. How are you..."

"What are you doing here?"

Jerry moved out of the way. John was handelling this now, it was best to let things go. Jewel and John watched as Jerry went back into the kitchen.

"Who wants out to eat!" they heard Jerry offer.

"Me!" Jalyn called.

Jewel walked over to John. "You're looking well."

"What do you want?"

"I filed Jax's divorce papers like he asked me to...their ready, they just need to be signed by both he and his wife. Then it's done."

"Jax asked you to file divorce papers?" John stated, his voice cold.

"I miss you..." Jax repeated, kissing Keesha once more. They rolled over, placing her on top.

Keesha pulled away.

They should talk...she knew they should talk...but...

She leaned in kissing Jax passionately. He wrapped his fingers into her hair, holding her close to him as he returned her kiss hungrily.

He would never let go of her again...never again would he let anyone come between them.

He loved her too much to let her go.

Suddenly, Jax pulled away. Keesha stared at him, watching carefully as he moved from beneath her. He sat on the edge of the bed. She closed her eyes, praying silently that everything was still on the right track.

"I love you Keesha."

Keesha breathed a sigh of relief. She opened her eyes, kneeling behind Jax on the bed. "I love you too Jax." she placed a small kiss on the back of his neck. "That's why it hurt so much to...feel so apart from you."

Jax bent his head, nodding. "I have to tell you something..."

"Wait, Jax...please." Keesha reached over, touching his chin. She lifted his face and Jax swallowed, forcing himself to turn around to look at her. "I'm so very sorry I hurt you..."

"Keesha..."

"You tried to warn me about Lark, and I wouldn't listen. And I'm sorry."

"You can't take all the blame for this."

"No...but I can be honest. And it's been a long time since I was truely honest with you. And that has to stop."

Jax sighed, standing from the bed. Keesha watched as he went over to the window. She debated going after him yet...

"I promised myself, when you were...in the hospital, that I would never take you for granted ever again. That I would tell you how I felt everyday, if I had a second chance."

Jax turned, looking at Keesha. But she was staring down at the floor, almost afraid to make eye contact with him.

"But when this...all started...I stopped doing that. We argued, we hurt each other..." she glanced up at him. "I shouldn't have called you a control freak, that wasn't fair."

"Keesha..." Jax moved closer to her.

"...but..." Keesha looked down at the floor again. "...I was hurt, and I thought you couldn't understand that. I didn't know how to deal with that, because you've always been the only person, the only person in my entire life, who truely understood me. Yet, you would look at me as if you just didn't get it, that you didn't understand why Lark was so very important to me...and that hurt."

Keesha closed her eyes as Jax knelt down on the floor in front of her.

"But I still shouldn't have said that, it wasn't fair. And it's not true," she repeated. With a deep sigh, she forced her eyes to open. "I came here for you, no other reason," she admitted, her eyes tearing.

So she did come to Australia for him? And though her admission should have pleased him, all he could think of was how badly he had treated her once she arrived, and this time he looked down at the ground.

"Yes, I missed our children....but I missed you too, and I didn't say that. I didn't tell you that I loved you at the airport, and I didn't tell you that I loved you when I got here...I broke my promise to you and to myself...and I didn't tell you how important you were to me. And that's what I am most sorry for." Keesha slid from the bed, kneeling across from Jax. "I love you," she whispered.

Jax looked into her eyes, and Keesha's eyes shut as he rested his hand against her cheek. "You..." he began, but he stopped as he struggled to find the words.

Keesha opened her eyes once more.

Jax continued, "It can't be the same. I can't stand being apart from you...especially when you're actually right here...I need you with me, emotionally too."

"We can work through this Jax..."

"I'm sorry that I wasn't as understanding as I should have been. And you're right, I didn't understand you...but really I don't think I tried hard enough. And you desrved me to try."

Keesha rested her hand on top of his, drawing it from her face. Everything would be okay now, they could work on this, and they would be just fine.

"I have to tell you something..." Jax realized.

"Jasper Jacks get down here NOW!"

Even Keesha jumped as John bellowed Jax's name.

Jax got up, walking quickly out of the room. He bounded down the stairs. "What's your problem."

John thrust the manilla envelope against Jax's chest. "So that's where you were all night! With Jewel..."

"Who's Jewel?"

John froze at Keesha's voice. He looked over and found her at the bottom of the stairs.

"Jax..."

Jax turned, looking at Keesha.

"Who is Jewel?" Keesha repeated. She walked over to Jax, waiting.

John left, leaving Jax and Keesha alone.

"Jewel is a...friend."

"Friend?" Keesha arched her eyebrow. "That you were with all night..."

"It's not what you think." Jax said quickly.

"Then what is it."

Jax sighed. But he handed her the envelope. Keesha looked at him for a moment, then she looked inside.

Outloud she read, "Petitioner, Jasper J. Jacks has hereby filed for divorce..." Keesha's voice trailed off and Jax looked down as she glanced up at him.

"I thought...I was so unhappy and..." Jax spoke quickly, his shame growing at what he had done. "Keesha..."

Jax watched as Keesha went over to the table next to the door.

She had made Jax so unhappy that he filed for a divorce?

Jax stared as Keesha flipped to the last page. She found her name...

Keesha pulled a pen from the cup.

She loved Jax far too much for that.

Quickly Keesha signed the divorce papers.

And then, silently she walked away.
