Between You & Me: Chapter 10
Jax smiled softly as he slept...his mind dreaming,
rembering a time not even long ago...
"Did I tell you that I loved you today?" Keesha stood
in the doorway of the downstairs office in their home.
"Yes," Jax mumbled his answer as he continued going
through his emails.
"No...I don't think I did."
"Yes, you did." Jax reiterated.
"Hmmm." Keesha closed the door. "Then why do I have
the urge to tell you again?"
Jax barely heard her. If Jerry screwed up this
deal..."What?" Jax's eyes focused on the letter in
front of him.
Suddenly he felt soft warmth against his ear. "I love
you..." Keesha breathed softly, wrapping her arms
around him.
Jax grinned, finally giving Keesha all of his
attention. "I love you more."
"Not possible..." Keesha kissed Jax on the cheek.
"Oh, I think it is."
Keesha laughed as Jax pulled her onto his lap. He
kissed her gently, wrapping his arms around her waist.
Keesha awoke at the familar squeeze against her waist.
Her breath caught in her throat and she watched as
Jax, still asleep, nuzzeled closer to her.
It had been so long since she woke up with Jax's arms
around her...she was almost sure she was dreaming.
But...
"Jax..." Keesha whispered his name, her touching his
hair softly.
It was real. He was here....
Jax's flashback-dream continued.
"I should work." Jax realized, pulling away from his
kiss with Keesha.
"Why? What's the point of being boss if you can't be
distracted once and awhile." Keesha smiled, running
her fingers across his lips.
As he slept, Jax sighed. Her touch seemed so real....
Keesha traced his lips with her fingertips. She
shifted slightly, drawing closer to Jax.
Slowly, she placed a small kiss on his mouth.
Even the kiss seemed so real...
So real that Jax opened his eyes.
Keesha pulled away, looking at Jax.
They stared at each other, neither of them saying a
word. And when Keesha finally did open her mouth to
say something, her words were halted as Jax placed his
finger on her lips.
"Shhh," he pleaded.
He didn't want to hear any words; words could lead to
an argument.
And he was tired of arguing; he loved her too much to
keep arguing.
All he wanted now....
Jax cupped Keesha's face into his hands, kissing her
passionately.
Keesha answered his hunger with her own. It had been
so long, too long...
Jax rested on top of her as their kiss continued.
Keesha pulled away for only a second, and then with a
small moan, kissed him urgently once more.
The taste of his lips was intoxicating, and she
continued to try and drown all of her sorrow from
these past weeks in his kisses...
Jax had missed Keesha so much...he had begun to think
he would never know the touch of her lips against his
again...never know the heavenly feel of her body
against his...
Jax pulled away with a small moan, nuzzling against
her neck.
Keesha arched against Jax as he sucked against the
skin of her throat. Her mouth parted as she inhaled,
and when she exhaled, a word finally escaped.
"Jax..." Keesha breathed.
Jax froze, and Keesha's heart stopped. Silently he
tlited her head over to his. "I miss you." he
answered with a whisper.
Jerry answered the door. "Yes?"
"Hi Jerry."
"Jewel."
"Is Jax here?"
"I don't know. I just got up. Why?"
"I have the package for him. Filed and ready to go."
Jerry reached out, taking the envelope. He sighed.
The divorce papers Jax had talked to him about. The
reason Jax had been gone all evening that day he ran
off.
Jerry shook his head. Jax had told him he couldn't go
through with sleeping with Jewel, that really he did
not want to. But Jerry wondered if that might have
been a more forgivable act.
Because what Jax had done was let Jewel, a family
lawyer, lead him through all the steps of filing for a
quickie divorce. And the moment the Australian courts
had opened, he filed the papers.
"All he has to do is sign them once more, and if
Keesha does the same, that's that. Their marriage will
be over." Jewel noted to Jerry. "So, is he here?"
