Message From the Chaplain

Henry Frantz - Post Chaplain

Building Up The Post

Our Father, help us not to grumble because we don't have what we want, but be thankful that we get what we deserve. Help those who are afraid of doing too much and end up doing too little. We have alot of work to do as Legionaries. Success is largely a matter of holding on after others have let go. Help us Lord not to dream up thousands of reasons why we can't do what we need to do, but instead find ways to improve our performance. Help us to achieve as individuals and then we all will achieve as group. I am grateful and thankful to be Chaplain of American Legion Post 263. If there be any member sick or in the hospital, please let me know. Call the Post,Commander, or me. Numbers to call are Post-410.869.7750 Commander-410.300.0664 Chaplain-443.636.5536 I take thius opportunity to wish all a fine Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays to follow.

Amen

Fellowship at your local church .

Message From the Second Vice

Clyde McLeon - Activities Chairperson

I want to thank those who voted me in for this term as 2nd Vice Commander it is a very interesting challenge for me. I ask all my comrades to assist me in having an improved successful year. On November 16, 2002, our 7th Annual "Old fashioned Cabaret" was held at the Catonsville Armory. It turned out to be one of our most successful fall dances ever. Great job Comrades!! Remember our Karaoke Night lives on, every Thursday Night. Thanks for your support over the years. A SPECIAL THANKS to our Auxiliary Ladies for their support, they have been there for us year round.

Be sure to check my "Activities Page" for updates over the coming spring and summer season. There may be some barbeque specials presented by our grill specialist, Comrade Nat Brown, during or spring and summer season. Remember our Karaoke Night lives on, on every Thursday Night. Check the "Activity Page for the latest schedule for that also. It will be posted there.

Come by the Post and get involved !!!

Service Officer's Report

Kenneth King- Service Officer

Comrades,we have entered a brand new year, this reinforces the issue of having your papers in order. You never know when you or your family may need them. First and foremost, you must have a copy of your discharge form or separation papers. They would be form DD214, or for you pre Korean War vets, a Form 53, Form 553, Form 5355 or a Form 5398. If you do not have any of these on hand, you can not get any VA or any other benefits your entitled to. If you need to obtain a copy of your records there is a form SF 180 (Request Pertaining to Military Records) to fill out, you can get it from the VA, at our Post ,or even off the internet ,from the National Personnel Records Center ,that form must be filled out and sent in to the records center. The records center will then send you (or family member) a copy of your military records and discharges papers. The SF 180 includes all the instructions you need to send for your records. All qualified veterans are entitled to a military burials, if requested by the family (through your funeral director).

On another matter, please be aware of a scam going around of an insurance company selling V.A. benefits. V.A. benefits are not for sale. They are your entitlements.

On a final note. Do not forget our sick and shut in members. Also, if you know of any member who is sick or shut in, please call me or one of the Post officers and let us know the details. We can not do anything for you if we are not informed.

Adjutant's Report

Richard (Ric) Robinson- Post Adjutant

Hello Comrades, I hope this newsletter will find all my comrades and their families well. Many things have taken place within our Post since the last newsletter and all have been improvements. Most importantly an updated Post by-laws to serve as a guide as we move forward. However, a successfull Post is really up to the members of that Post.

I would like to thank all of you the support that you have given in doing this job so far, it has been a most challenging but rewarding year.
