The Good The stage was insane. Huge, colorful, lights everywhere -- scary ass metal rods jutting here and there. The walkway was a GREAT idea. They spent LOTS of time on it and gave the fans lucky enough to be close to it a real eyeful.
The videos are AWESOME. What I would've given to be on the set when they did those! They have some CUTE old-skool video footage of the guys they show which makes you realize how far they've come.
All five boys looked and sounded amazing. Seriously. They are in top form -- strong, beautiful voices, trim bodies. Heh. The new songs really showcase how talented vocally they are, but... but..... but....
The Bad BUT.... I'm sitting in Nosebleeds trying in vain to hear the intricate stuff they are doing with their voices and couldn't hear a damn thing because of the screaming. Did I mind the screaming? Of course not -- I was screaming, too. BUT, there were times I wished everyone would just quiet down. I feel like I missed out on a LOT of pretty harmonies and stuff because that stuff is kinda subtle and it's hard to hear it in that capacity. Yeah, I'll get to hear it on the album, but I wanted to hear them do it LIVE.
I was surprised to see so many little girls there. Like Nat said, we were some of the oldest there who DID NOT have children with them. Everywhere I looked, people were like 14 and under. Bizarre. It felt like the show was sanitized so the 7 year olds wouldn't get upset. I'm realistic - I knoe they aren't gonna come out and get naked (damn!) but I know how talented and fun and older NSYNC is and I long for them to do something where they can be more themselves. I wonder if they want that? There were times I think they did something in the hopes they would get a knowing response from the crowd and they didn't. It's almost like their sense of humor was lost on the majority of the crowd. I dunno. That's pretty mean of me to say... but... it's how I feel.
Anyway... it was just weird.
The Ugly
The backup dances sucked. Big time. Like, sucked in more ways than I can think of. There are no words. They were distracting, they were useless in anything they danced in besides "IGBM" and holy hell, they were UGLY. Fake, plastic looking... Actually, they worked well in "Celebrity" because those are the kinds of girls you probably see hanging off of NSYNC at clubs and stuff.... but I kinda doubt that was what they were going for. (Although JC does that whole skit about his "gold-digger gf" and is yet "very much in love" with Bobzilla so what the hell do I know!?) I didn't enjoy watching them "get freaky" with the boys onstage. They took away from the show.
I know this is all very salty and mean. I DID enjoy seeing the guys because they are always fun to see. Even sitting as far back as I was, it was all good. They are cute and funny and sweet and so amazingly talented. If you go see them, you will NOT regret it.
