Surprise Party

People write about love and courage,
The best days of their lives,
Mine is a little bit different,
And we remember, you and I.
Reading "Baby Sitter's Club,"
I was always filled with envy,
When Dawn and Mary Ann,
Always pulled through in the ending.
Such best friends,
Always side by side,
Really quite different,
But reflections deep inside.
I wished and prayed to the higher power,
That I one day would, too,
Find a friend like Mary Ann,
And higher power sent you.
Reading "perfect" lives,
About make-believe friends,
Reading about their suprize parties,
The always "perfect" ends.
I thought that it would never be me,
That I would never have,
Someone who would be so nice,
And give me what I lacked.
I wished and prayed to the higher power,
That I one day would, too,
Find a friend like Mary Ann,
And higher power sent you.
Went through the days,
Blindly without a clue,
Led on like another cow,
Oblivious as I bellowed, "MOO!!"
You led me down your carpeted stairs,
Descended to the basement,
Lights turned on and I nearly cried,
As I looked around in amazement.
I wished and prayed to the higher power,
That I one day would, too,
Find a friend like Mary Ann,
And higher power sent you.
So many times I pinch myself,
And still I can't blieve,
The wonderful thing you did for me,
The love that I recieved.
Well trained and prepared,
To meet all types of rejections,
But when something so wonderful happened,
I didn't know my reaction.
I wished and prayed to the higher power,

In the past I have been hurt,
Left alone to deal,
With all the punishment thrown at me,
My "best" friend not that real;
As a child my parents never were,
Or never are really there,
Yes, I know that they love me,
But I still feel they don't care.

In the fifteen years (plus one day),
I have lived this life,
I can truly and honestly say,
It's the best day, no lie.
When love actually surrounded me,
And I cried tears of joy,
The most astonishing thing,
Better than a Backstreet Boy!! (gasp)

The presents and balloons,
Were wonderful, of course,
But it's the fact you thought of me,
That really makes the score.
