WELCOME TO MY SHOP
My parents started, Hidalgo Imports, in 1981.  Abel & Joyce Hidalgo's story is the classic, all-American success story!

My dad is Hispanic and my mom is half German.
What a pair!! They have lived their 37 married years in Longview, Texas, where their shop is located. Longview lays 750 miles northeast of the Mexican border.

In the late 70's my dad lost his blue collar job.   My mom, like moat everyone else's mom in those days, was the homemaker. Out of necessity, they started their business from the garage. Dad would drive from city to city, selling imports to restaurants and businesses throughout Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Mom kept the books for the business, ran the household, and us kids!

As the business began to prosper with orders coming in. My parents felt opening a storefront was the next step. They wanted to carry items that were special and unique, but most of all..the best in quality, yet affordable.

At the age of 60, my Dad still makes the drive to Mexico every two weeks and gathers one of a kind and unusual items, for their clients.  My mom usually stays behind to run the shop.  On special occasions, when looking for a particular item for a client, she makes the trip with him.

As my parents began talk of retirement,  I  began expanding the family business onto the internet. Since retiring from my profession as a school teacher, I have decided to become the newest entrepreneur in the family, carrying on the, "Hidalgo Family,"  tradition!

This is a dream come true for me. I get to work from home, while taking the family business into the future.
