Sunset by Michael David Coffey
There is a void in my heart
There is a void in my
heart, an empty cavern
A cathedral of echoing
angels
Crying out in anguish
at the pain
Of separation
Lost in the far flung
spaces of this globe
This seething cauldron of
human follies
Yes, there is a
huge loss
in my heart
Bleeding as it does
for your return
It seems unreal,
unfair that
you went
And I cannot bear
your going
Each day I pray
for it to be
different
The loss is cavernous,
unbearable
You gone, me here
Life ticks by,
slips by
And I want it so
That you would be
here
with me
There is a void in
my heart
And only you
may fill it
