Andean Lake by Michael David Coffey
Love's Peace
Reflected in the
silent streams
of a green lake
Deep dark intensity
drawing me to its edge
Remembering where I
swam once many
years ago
In the ice cold waters
out to the lonely rocky
crag
There to take my breathe
and return, exhausted
Then I was unsure,
ill prepared
And life came and
went
Breathless, not
knowing why or where
I grasped out at love's
presence
and plundered of its
passion fruit
But I was unsure,
uncertain
And life moved on
Time and time
again
I recall that time
when barely able
I swam out in those
dangerous waters
And cold and exhausted
I swam back
I had been there but
it was a mystery
I did not know why
Why would I do this
in such a tranquil
place?
What magic drew
me to that lone rock?
Black and sinister
in its isolation
It was years later
that I knew
What drew me was
the desire to know
to find
Love's Peace
