Sapphire Sky by Michael David Coffey

Love's Immortality

Love is a strange dark
potient
An elixir of life's
transformation
It turns the sane
into insane
In magic it makes
the mundane
magnificent
It is there in all
of us
But rarely truthfully
engaged
Love is a force
invisible
Yet in conquering
it controls
our existence
Yet again,
without love
life is dull
positively boring
I have seen love
born and grow
I have seen it go
away
Well not actually
You see --
if it is love
it has immortality
That actually is
the only true
evaluation
of love
True love
In life we believe
this and that
We can fantasize
But when love is parted
In the parting of
lives
When lovers take
their separate paths
their destinies
Or when the
hand of God
takes the loved one
away
forever
Well then we are
left
looking
In an empty hand
there is tragedy
The realization of a
love that never was
But if there is true love
It is different
The loss is unbearable
at first
Because such loss
is real
There is anger
and anguish
That love's gain
should be lost
A void, a vacuum
in the heart
But, in time,
in healing
the void is filled
with loving feelings
The love returns
and fills the
heart
With self love
and loving memories
For true love is a
gift, unconditional
And once given
it is yours
to realize
and enjoy
True love is the
ultimate gift
And is never lost
Such is
Love's Immortality
