'Winter', a color lithograph by Alphonse Mucha
Gray Mist
A gray mist surrounds me
In the warm seclusion of
my mind
Within there is security,
peace
Outside obscurity and
pain
Yet I want to be there
In the flowing stream
Among human endeavors
A gray mist surrounds me
And obscures my vision
Like a thick blanket of snow
It keeps me hemmed in
Among the reflections of
uncertainty
Yet I want to be there
Flying among the birds
in a clear blue yonder
Among nature's players
A gray mist surrounds me
And slows me in my
endeavors
Protecting me from more
pain
Yet life without pain is
meaningless
How I long to be on that
forest path
Heading into the thick
deep unknown, once more
And I will be there,
soon!
