Detail and adaptation from the oil painting: Ecstasy 1929
by Maxfield Parrish (1870 - 1966)

Ecstasy

Ecstasy driving me wild
In the rarefied air of the heavens
Laden with love, in the knowing
That you are mine, inexplicably
Mine in the knowing of our lives
Richly connected as if . . .
We had lived before
A thousand times in our yearning
Basking now in ecstasy

Ecstasy driving me crazy
Desiring you as I do, here
In my heart and feelings
You are ever present
And in my memories you endure
Timeless melodies of lovers
Singing a tune of communion
And loving in our minds . . .
Ecstatically

Ecstasy, the insanity of . . .
Our existence, the rift, the gulf
So wide and deep
Yet we are together in our minds
Liberated among the mountains
So pure and unconditional
Majestic and ethereal, ecstasy
Our unfettered love
