Enchanted Garden by Michael David Coffey
A Gentle Touch
A gentle touch,
a nodding wink
The lover came
to say . . .
I love you and --
they made love
in a thousand
ways of
caring
A gentle touch,
of passion fulfilling
In the daisy days
they wandered
up hill and down
In search of who
knows
Here and there
They had no need
of anything
Save themselves
A gentle touch,
in the growing love
In the loving
in so many ways
Small things
Gentle thoughts
and pleasures
simple
Like innocent children
They played
and loved
A gentle touch
and time
moved on
This perfect love
became --
insufficient
They wanted more
and gentleness
was not enough
Live for the day
said he
But I need a
tomorrow
said she
And they moved
apart
A gentle touch
and their
meetings
dwindled
No lesser loving
but yet --
the pain was growing
And they parted
with --
a gentle touch
