"Swiss Cheese People"

August 5, 1992 (modified title 9/9/92)

(pre-Christian phase of mine)

based on XTC "Scarecrow People"

Hope you enjoyed your prayer

I don't think it went anywhere

but you meant it just the same

Just who is your Lord and Saviour

or are you another flavor?

Just what is your God's name?

For we ain't got no brains

and we ain't got no souls

It's the reality of life

that hacks us full of holes

We're the Swiss Cheese People

and we got lots in common with you

Cuz if you don't start living true

you're gonna become Swiss Cheese People too

Hope you enjoyed your book

Is it really worth another look?

Or what do you really have to lose?

While you're here, give me some advice

on fighting sin, crime, corruption, and vice

Let the Inquisition turn the screws

For we ain't got no brains

and we ain't got no souls

It's the reality of life

that hacks us full of holes

We're the Swiss Cheese People

and we got lots in common with you

Cuz if you don't start living true

you're gonna become Swiss Cheese People too

We don't have no love here

It's all push and shove here

It's all do what we say

ain't no other way here

We thought we'd place our God

and religion upon ya

because we're the only

intelligent life 'round here

The nay-sayers have no friends here

Everybody tries to pretend here

If you're a fake get real

and feel our zeal here

We thought we'd place our God

and religion upon ya

'cuz it's as cold as a freezebox

in here -- ya ya ya!

And... we ain't got no brains

and we ain't got no souls

It's the reality of life

that hacks us full of holes

We're the Swiss Cheese People

and we got lots in common with you

Cuz if you don't start living true

you're gonna become Swiss Cheese People too

And I ain't got a brain

and I ain't got a soul

Every new hypocrisy

hacks yet another hole

I'm a Swiss Cheese Person

Listen to the tale I told

Cuz if we don't start living true

We'll be covered in green hypocritical mold

Ya Ya!
